We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I believe the single most important decision that has contributed to my success is choosing to “give it my all” every single day. It can be lonely, isolating and scary working for yourself. But, once you make the decision to go for it, don’t look back! I regularly check in with myself, remind myself why I started my business and visualize where I want it to go. I know that if I don’t put in all of the effort, no one else will. The success of our business is solely dependent upon my mindset, desire to succeed and choice to keep pushing to further our goals. You have to stop questioning yourself, not let fear take over and quit worrying about what others may think!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We offer both custom (embroidery, screen printing & vinyl) and retail products. I love being able to have a hand in both worlds. It’s so fun to utilize my artistic side when I create a custom baby gift set and also search for the cutest women’s/children’s clothing in the same day! I never get bored. I love that each time a customer reaches out to me it is fresh & new. We work directly with our customers to create custom items they will love. We place our customer service at the forefront of everything we do because without our customers we wouldn’t be able to do what we love.
I think the biggest thing that sets our business apart from others is the ability to provide personalization, gift options and personal options for every aspect of your life. We are able to add monograms/personalization to most of the products we offer. We strive to be your one-stop-shop for every gifting occasion in your life – from birth to marriage through adulthood, we’ve got you covered with one-of-a-kind, custom gift options.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We love where we live! Houston has so many great things to offer.
Our itinerary would for sure include a trip to Galveston for some fresh seafood and a fun afternoon in the sun at the beach. We’d take a trip to Kemah for a fun afternoon on the boardwalk and then to the Seabrook Fish Markets to grab some great food to grill at home. We’d also be sure to grab coffee and waffles at The Seabrook Waffle House, eat on the patio of Top Water and let the kids play while we enjoy a good drink at The Backyard in Seabrook.
We’d head into Houston for some amazing park experiences and to visit some of our favorite restaurants – Ninfa’s on Navigation is always a personal favorite. And of course we can’t leave out a trip to watch our hometown team, the Astros!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My business wouldn’t have been a reality without the encouragement and support of my husband. I had talked about starting a boutique for months, but was terrified to jump in. What if I failed? What would people think? He regularly shut down those fears, encouraged me to jump in with both feet and ended up naming my business! He also has spent countless hours helping out with childcare when I needed to work late, grabbing supplies when I ran out and making last minute post office runs. He is my partner in life and gives me the freedom to dream big! He also is the one that has me step back, look at where I’ve come over the years and appreciate what I’ve been able to build.
