We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Englade and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started Monarch Talent Solutions in late 2020 after being laid off due to the pandemic. Starting a recruiting firm when there were no jobs was not easy. I was not only new to entrepreneurship but also had no book of business when I started the company, so I had to start from ground zero. Everything was difficult, but it was necessary to go through. See, there is no reward without risk and no success without failure. The ups and downs in business are necessary, and the down times, in particular, teach you a lot about yourself and what you’re capable of. You overcome the challenges by going through them. You have to experience everything, good and bad, to learn and grow. The hard times are what build champions. The more you compound your activity and the more laser-focused you are on your goals, the more success you’ll have. What I’ve learned is that you can not be seduced by success. Once you get a taste of success, most people start relaxing and taking their foot off the gas, and that’s when their competition catches up and beats them. If you can remain focused on your goals and mission and not get seduced by the success you achieve, you will never lose.
Monarch Talent Solutions is on a mission to put humanity back into hiring. We are focused on reinventing the recruiting industry so that job seekers and hiring managers can confidently work with headhunters without feeling as if they’re working with a used-car salesman. Recruiting doesn’t need to be so transactional, and we are reinventing the industry by always putting relationships first.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Memorial Park is one of my favorite places for exercising and for relaxing. We love our Astros here in Houston, so catching a game at Minute Maid Park is a must if you’re visiting during baseball season. Luce Coffee Roasters is fabulous for a morning or mid-day caffeine pick-me-up. My favorite lunch spot is Hudson House in River Oaks, and a hidden gem in Houston called Sorrento, which has been in business for twenty-plus years, is fantastic for dinner. Lastly, Galveston is about an hour and fifteen-minute drive from the city and is great for a much-needed beach day!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Corey has been a huge support and my biggest cheerleader throughout my journey as an entrepreneur. His belief that I could start a company and be successful and his unwavering encouragement since taking the leap has given me the confidence and security to go all in on myself and the business. He’s been my rock, and he’s one of the reasons I work as hard as I do because I know and appreciate how much he believes in me, and I am committed to not letting him or myself down.
