We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Ganann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
You can do anything, but not everything. This quote helps me realize that I am capable of doing anything that I set my mind to. While at the same time, realizing that I am only one person. This has helped me as a Mom, Entrepreneur, Friend, Sister trying to do it all. As women, we sometimes feel a lot of pressure to get everything done & perfectly at that. You don’t have to do it all, we can empower those around us by delegating & hiring out tasks while supporting small businesses in the community.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In my 30s, I restructured a Development firm & in that process I realized my love for commercial real estate. I decided to start a Boutique Commercial Real Estate Company, CDS, which just turned 5 this year! I absolutely love what I do & the being a part of the entrepreneurship world. We are a full service firm that works with Retail, Office, Warehouse/Industrial Properties & Land for Development. Our experience in development has afforded us the opportunity to work all sides of the transaction, whether that be Property Management, Listing space for sale or lease, Investments for a passive income stream, Buyer Representation & Tenant Representation. One of our favorite parts of representing tenants is that our services typically come to them at no cost as commissions are typically handled by the Landlord. We also love to help start-ups prepare to get into a commercial space.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston is such an amazing city! Anything you want to eat, explore & lots of entertainment options at your fingertips! The food scene is incredible. We have such a diverse culture in the city that affords us the opportunity to indulge in & learn about foods, holidays, dances and so many other aspects from people all around the world! Depending on the time of year, you have to check out the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo! Everything fried & on a stick. Yum. They have a carnival, concerts, shopping & showcase some beautiful livestock.
I also love all the parks we have around town. I would take them out for a picnic at one of my favorites, Buffalo Bayou with an amazing view of the downtown skyline, Levy Park is close to home & offers Zumba and other events along with food trucks, dog parks, mini golf, foosball, table tennis & even just opened up a taco and margarita shop! We also have a great option with the Landbridge at Memorial Park & I’m always amazed at the greenery of Discovery Green right in Downtown Houston!
Something I had never heard of before moving to Houston 20+ years ago, Kolaches! Definitely have to share the love of these delicious pastries – my favorite being The Original Kolache Shop! Postino is another favorite of mine with a great happy hour & quality menu. Pinstripes has a delicious food & drink menu with some luxury bowling. We would also need to check out Steak 48 for a fancy night out. One of my favorite casual spots is Sweet Paris with locations throughout the city.
A day at the ballpark watching our Astros is another can’t miss entertainment event! We also have the Texans & Rockets if you are more into Football or Basketball with talks of adding a Hockey team as well. There are always multiple concerts at our several concert venues around Houston. Really, anything your heart desires!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am so grateful for the Women’s Council of Entrepreneurs. This group is multifaceted in the benefits you personally receive as well as the business growth! There are chapters all over the city of Houston and one in San Antonio. The Co-Founders, Ali & Melissa have cultivated such an amazing atmosphere of support for women in business. Every month each chapter hosts a coffee & connections event where we showcase host sponsors fun & cute shops, come together for an hour to network, discuss our monthly mastermind topic & collaborate with each other. You will leave feeling inspired with some great perspective to improve your business with some great connections. I am blessed with the opportunity to Lead the Heights & River Oaks Chapter & we would love to have you join us!
