We had the good fortune of connecting with Selena Nimchan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Selena, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Initially, it was to make money. I would love to give an answer that make me sound a little more “saintly,” but money was my main motivation at the time. I was a recently divorced mom of 2, and knew I needed a way to supplement my income. My daughter had been suffering for years, and between doctors appointments, ointments, steroids, allergy shots, dietary changes, etc. I was literally at my wits end. In 2017, I had just recently developed Jada’s Magical Blend. At that time, I knew I had a product that offered my daughter relief from some of her eczema symptoms and thought, “not only can I help other parents, I can also help myself.’

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I’m not working at making Bathe…”rethink your bath” a success, I moonlight as a manager for a school district. “I” think “I” have used “I” enough in this interview. Makes me sound like “I’m” full of myself. So, yeah…done talking about myself (lol).

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston has so many sites and interesting things, it’s hard for me to come up with places off the top of my head…a few spots that I have frequented are: Two Hands, The Graffiti Buildings, City Acres Brewery, St. Arnold’s Brewery, Taste Bar and Kitchen, Turkey Leg Hut

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I’d like to thank my daughter! I’ve started and failed at businesses in the past, but because this has truly been a labor of love, I have not accepted failure in this endeavor. Of course, I would like to also thank my mom, dad, sister and extended family for speaking light into me, when I felt nothing but darkness. I would also like to thank ALL my Soror’s of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Zeta helped me become a stronger woman; a more confident woman; a FINER woman!
