We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharon Terry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am a NICU nurse of 23 yrs and started NuBorn Kare when she noticed how many parents were struggling with their transition from the hospital to home and knew there must be a solution. Through NuBorn Kare, I have been able to offer my veteran industry professional knowledge and guidance so you can have the confidence and peace of mind knowing that you’re doing everything the best way for your baby.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This is from my about me page on my site

Sharon Terry is an RN of 30 years and has cared for over 10,000 babies including those weighing as little as 500g and born at 23 weeks. She began her career in adult ICU for 5 years followed by 2 years of multidisciplinary specialist exposure in a clinic before transitioning to the NICU where she has been a level 3 nurse for 23 yrs. Simultaneously, she spent 5 years working in pediatric home health where she tended to critical care infants. Sharon has certifications in CPR, NRP, STABLE, and has committed over 250 hours towards continued education.

She is a recently retired RN in the NICU, she operates NuBorn Kare independently where she teaches every aspect of baby/infant care: sleep/awake schedules, feeding techniques, weight gain and time management, development, correct positioning, short and long term in home infant care now available. She offers her support in a positive environment just as she has done in a professional setting for years. Driven by purpose, Sharon started NuBorn Kare when she noticed how many parents were struggling with their transition from the hospital to home and knew there must be a solution. Through NuBorn Kare, she has been able to offer her veteran industry professional knowledge and guidance so you can have the confidence and peace of mind knowing that you’re doing everything the best way for your baby.

Sharon is an Australian mother of 3, grandmother of 4, and has been happily married to her English husband, Simon, for 35 years. She enjoys fine wine and family time when she’s not saving lives and helping others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Montgomery, Texas, it’s just outside of The Woodlands and I live very close to Lake Conroe. The restaurants are wonderful in this area and the scenery is awesome. Montgomery is a lovely town full of history and has an old section of shops, wineries and more restaurants. The lake is beautiful and there are restaurants are on the water.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am dedicating my shoutout to my family for all their support in keeping me focused and stepping out of the hospital setting. Also, the wonderful neonatologists, nurse practitioners, and respiratory, occupational, physical and speech therapists that have helped guide and educate me over my career so I could do the best for all my little patients giving them the best outcome possible.
