We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelanda Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelanda, why did you pursue a creative career?
Honestly, this isn’t something that I pursued on purpose. It just sort of happened. I have always been a person that loved to create and explore from a very young age. As I became an adult, those hobbies grew to be a part of my life consistently.

I never quite understood how much of my life or how important it was to me until the pandemic hit. For me, the pandemic sent me to work. At times, I was working seven days a week because that is where the need was. I wasn’t traveling at this time or creating my projects. I was only working. I ended up developing anxiety. From that I knew I needed to get some of the other pieces of my life back.

I had a friend ask me why I wasn’t making videos. Initially, I thought he was talking about those trending dance videos. I wasn’t doing that because I can’t dance, but he said, “I ain’t telling you to dance. Do what you do.” So I started creating videos on TikTok. I got back out exploring as well. Since then I have been reached out to by brands and It’s only getting better. It really all started as a form of therapy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My story is only beginning. I’m still figuring out where its heading. I’m excited to see what the future holds. Shels on Go is dedicated to the curiosity and creativity in all of us. I try to go out and bring back to my viewers what I found in an entertaining way. I’m curious, and a little bit nosy, and I encourage others to be. I stumble onto some wonderful things. I’m proud that I’m able to help small businesses grow on my platform and share my views with everyone.

For me, the challenge is focusing in on one thing when I have so many interests, and I am always getting new ones. Shels on Go is a brand of discovery and rediscovery. The excitement that I feel when I am learning something, or finding something, I want everyone to feel that. I really want people to go out and try something new.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are a bunch of great spots to eat between food trucks and restaurants. Places like The Breakfast Klub, Black Walnut, Blue Stone Lane, Hibachi bros, bun slut, Flora, The Warwick, and Mr. Potato. It just differs depending on the vibe. Saturday is for brunching then Sunday Funday. Houston is a large place with so many options it really depends on the vibe you are chasing. I like to always leave time for activities like the rage room, lipstick bars, tree adventures, ATV mudding, and so much more.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely want to give a shoutout to my family and friends, most are in Florida. They have always supported me on all my adventures and endeavors. They encourage me to always be myself, which is important. I’d like to thank all my followers/subscribers on all my social media platforms. I am going to keep providing you with the content you like to see. I love to interact with all of you and getting your unique view on topics. Your time is valuable, and I am grateful that you all share it with me. Houston, Thanks for watching my TikToks.
