We had the good fortune of connecting with Skye Vila and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Skye, what is the most important factor behind your success?
In this business, the most important factor behind success is being unique. I don’t sell what everyone else is selling. We work extremely hard to find unique and interesting styles and toys that you just don’t see everywhere. I can guarantee that Petite Re is one of the most interesting children’s boutiques in Texas. We learn from our customer base, and I take every bit of advice and criticism serious. We strive to be a shopping experience, and we take pride in everything we sell. These rules keep our customers loyal and our business growing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well they say nothing is easy, but then again sometimes life gives you a few tools to help. We work 80 hours a week so we don’t have to work 40 hours a week for someone else. Our stores are who we are and put in all the time we can to make them successful. My wife and I have this amazing work relationship where we know when its time to just stop and pay attention to life. The big challenge to it all is family. Don’t forget family! Its very rare that we do anything without each other these days, and its absolutely amazing. A good family life makes the work so much easier.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A week long visit would be fun. We don’t sit around much. When we are in town we are usually cooking at home or at Shandy’s in the Heights. It’s a great place with healthier fare. When we have a few days we are usually in Fredericksburg for the wine and food, or in Round Top for shopping and eating at Royer’s. If you don’t know Royer’s, look it up. It is one of the best places in Texas. Houston is a town with so much to do. Its easy to pick out some things in the smaller towns.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my wife and business partner Lindsay, and my children Lola and Remi. Petite Re Modern Child and Saint lo Boutique are all projects of love and learning. I truly believe my girls are my fuel. I would be nothing without them.
