We had the good fortune of connecting with Soleille and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Soleille, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Romans 8:28 says “We know that in everything God works for good with those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.”

This verse is a constant source of encouragement for me because I know that in everything that I go through, both good and bad, it’s going to end up working for my benefit at the end of the day. Being an artist causes me to go through a rollercoaster of emotions with the constant ups & downs of the industry and it’s really easy to get discouraged. However, even when I’m down, I don’t stay down for too long because I know victory is always on the horizon.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer-songwriter-lyricist from the DMV. I describe my sound as Black Nöize and that is what sets me apart from my contemporaries. I believe that I am a distinctively versatile artist with the ability to chameleon into any style or genre I choose from R&B & Hip-Hop to Afrobeats, Gospel, & more. One of my most proud accomplishments happened last year when my song “4 The Streetz” with fellow NO!RE member MeMo landed on Tyler Perry’s hit TV show Sistas. That was my/our first sync placement and it came at a really pivotal time in my life & career so it was truly a blessing.

I feel like there’s no simple way to describe how I got to where I am today, especially considering I’m nowhere near where I want to be in my career yet. However, it’s through the grace of God, hard work, and an unwavering belief in myself that I can say I’m definitely on the way to approaching the doors of my dreams very soon. The journey has been far from easy. I’ve been dealing with mental health struggles, being constantly overlooked, and wanting to top everything I’ve done before, but I’m a warrior, and as Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

All I want the world to know about Soleille is that I am a testimony of what happens when you put faith, hard work, and tenacity in everything you do and that I am going to be the artist that defines our generation. No doubt about it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m really bad at this because I’m such a homebody!!! Most of my activities would center around food and museums. I didn’t realize how spoiled we are in the DMV with free museums until I go to other parts of the country and realize that museums are not free for some reason. I’d probably take my friend museum-hopping around the Smithsonian museums in DC, ride around in those scooters, and get some really good seafood. I’m a sucker for some good crab legs, so we’d probably get some drinks, eat some crab legs, and *maybe* hit the club (but probably not because Miss Rona is very much out and I truly do prefer to stay inside).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to one of my best friends, Jasmine. She’s been my ride-or-die since my freshman year of high school and has always been a source of strength and support for me. When I’m going through one of my (many) existential crises, she always helps me stay grounded and reminds me of the importance of my purpose and why I was put on this planet. She’s one of the first people who hears my unreleased music, she comes to nearly all of my shows, and is literally always there for me when I need her. She’s the Spice to my Sugar. Love you Jas!
