We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonia Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sonia, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I think like any other profession, blogging requires planning, organization, creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, and massive action. (It’s not just about taking photos and smiling for the camera.) Unless, of course, it is a hobby. However, in order to build a true community around a brand, or blog, you must deliver consistently on what the audience wants in the most genuine way. Consistency plays a huge role in creating and developing a successful blog, or business, in general.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Fashion and lifestyle blog, mrsprofresh.com, has become a go-to source for wardrobe ideas, home decor, cocktail recipes, travel guides, and healthy lifestyle tips. My goal is to continually share what I know, especially if it means helping another person. My readers know I write to provide value and I intend on keeping it that way. Having said that, I am very excited about the future. I have been working on a project for quite some time and look forward to the day I can share more about it. Until then, I have been working tirelessly to write a blog post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It hasn’t been easy but if it were easy, everyone would be doing it, right? I want my readers to know that I value their trust and input. I also hope they know how much I appreciate their support. My blog wouldn’t be a blog without a reader, therefore, I feel it is my responsibility to put my best foot forward and deliver quality content. If you are a dedicated supporter of mrsprofresh.com, thank YOU, thank YOU, thank YOU. I appreciate you more than words could ever describe. As a full-time professional, and part-time blogger, it isn’t always easy to do both. But when you love what you do, and you’re extremely passionate about it, it doesn’t feel like work. By the way, I never understood that concept before. It wasn’t until I found a job I thoroughly enjoy and love.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my gosh – I looooove this question so much! I am all about discovering gems in the city AND THEN sharing them with my Instagram and TikTok friends. If my beautiful best friend from New York visited me, I would first give her a tour of our brand new home. After the home tour, I would drive her to Tiny Boxwoods for a delicious brunch and cocktails. Afterwards, we would drive back to the house to drop off my car and walk to downtown Houston. I would take her to Phoenicia Specialty Foods and purchase all of our favorite things to have an outdoor picnic in the middle of the city. After grabbing our favorite goodies, I would lead us to Discovery Green for a lovely outdoor picnic. We would set camp underneath a big oak tree so we can be protected from the sun. We would sit, lay, perhaps take a nap, and simply enjoy each other’s company. Our most favorite thing to do is to have deep life chats and laugh. We love to laugh. After our picnic, we would go back to the house, sit on the rooftop terrace, and watch the beautiful sunset kiss the downtown skyline. Before her weeklong visit comes to an end, I would ensure to take her to: – Bloom and Bee for a nice dinner – Cielito Cafe for a delicious Mexican breakfast – Nancy’s Hustle for a unique and tasty experience – Mademoiselle Louise for a French croissant and warm coffee – Hugo’s for Sunday brunch – Sonoma Wine Bar for a small taste of the West Coast – Black Swan Yoga for hot yoga – Buffalo Bayou Park for an outdoor workout – Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern for a sound healing meditation session – Marriott Marquis for a poolside day – The Houstonian Trellis Spa for a day of relaxation and unwinding – Explore the nightlife in downtown and Washington Ave.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a lot of mentors I have yet to meet. Some of the people that have contributed greatly to my life include: Mark Cuban, Ed Mylett, Andy Frisella, Barbara Corcoran, Jenna Kutcher, Tony Robbins, Dr. Dwayne Dyer, and Grant Cardone. Whether it is through a podcast episode, book, YouTube video, or social media platform, I am constantly absorbing their knowledge and wisdom. Thanks to them I am able to get out of my lows and perform at my highest-self. The following should go unsaid but I am also in constant awe of my husband. He motivates and pushes me to become the highest version of myself. He is the best accountability partner I could have ever asked for. Not to mention, my biggest cheerleader in life. Last, but not least, my family. I am so blessed to have a supportive and loving family. They mean the world to me and would do anything for them. I look forward to the day I am able to take them on the vacation of their dreams.
