We had the good fortune of connecting with Souli Phaduangdet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Souli, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Passion, hard work, and believe in your prouduct..
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets my restaurant apart from others is that all my dishes are very authentic but I tweek all dishes for the better. I had a food truck for 10 years and it was my stepping stone to save money for a brick and mortar. Lessons that I learned is that the food industry is a very tough buisness there are so many challenges thrown at you daily but because of my passion for love and food it’s hard not to give up. I would love for people to know that all my dishes has a story behind each and every items. Sao Lao Thai Cafe started as a love between my mother and I who taught me how to cook and to be able to spend time with her.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to go try the best and most local restaurants in houston to show them the amazing culinary culture that we have for our city.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My restaurant team, Cat Huyhn customers and the support of the community.
