We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacie Richard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always been into creating content, whether it was videography, photography, or hand made crafts. I received my bachelors degree in Journalism and I am currently a news producer in Louisiana. My dad was a freelance photographer as well, and when he suddenly passed in 2018, I couldn’t let his legacy end. So I started Hal’s Legacy Photography in his honor, using all of his equipment.Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m from Houston, Tx. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelors in journalism. I am currently a news producer for the NBC affiliate station in Louisiana. My dream was to always be in the news industry. It was a long, tough, tearful journey to get where I am. The news industry is super competitive and it’s really hard to get a start. But with prayer and patience, I started this mu professional career in Temple, TX, a small city between Austin and Dallas, as an overnight Producer. I stayed there for a year before transferring to Louisiana. Aside from my 9-5, I’m a photographer. I never thought of starting a business on my own until it was really heavy on my heart and I had the feeling that this was something I couldn’t sit on. I refused to sell my dad’s equipment and I refused to let them sit on a shelf and collect dust. So I decided to follow in his footsteps and continue his legacy. The lessons I’ve learned along my journey is to remain patient and positive, and understand rejection can be a blessing in disguise. I want the world to know my dad was an awesome photographer, awesome father, and that this business is a reflection of him. So go follow @halslegacyphotography!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this to my Dad, Thomas Harold Richard, Jr. This business is him! He’s the inspiration and the original talent. Wish he was here to see how I’m holding him down. Also to my Mom and sisters who’s been super supportive and helpful.
