We had the good fortune of connecting with Steph Kagan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steph, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my passion for all things fashion and design. I love showing people how understanding fashion, trends, silhouettes and color can enhance their lives and self-confidence. Your outfit speaks before you do!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a wardrobe stylist who specializes in personal styling, photoshoot styling, wardrobe consulting, personal shopping, buying and merchandising. I like to push clients out of their comfort zone and into their more stylish and confident version of themselves. I discovered my love of styling while working as a buyer in a designer boutique. It’s pretty amazing to put someone in an outfit they feel good in and see the way their aura changes. If you look good, you feel good, period. Running your own business is more than a full-time job, it’s hard to find a work-life balance because the more you put into your business the further you will go. I want people to know that a stylist isn’t just for famous people! Having a stylist makes getting dressed every day fun and exciting. I love helping people fall in love with their closet!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was visiting, I’d take her for a walk around town lake, stopping along the way for coffee at Jo’s on 2nd street (get the Belgian iced coffee) and head to South Congress for some shopping! We’d shop for a few hours and then fuel up with a second iced coffee and maybe a lil’ sweet treat from Two Hands. After shopping, we’d have a delicious lunch in the cutest setting at Elizabeth Street Cafe. After lunch, we’d head to my friend Micheline’s tattoo shop, Church Tattoo, and get matching mini tattoos! Later we’d grab evening martinis at Busty’s and then head to a show at The White Horse for some two-stepping.tw In the morning, we’d get brunch at The Little Darlin’ and do some record store/vintage shopping or maybe even a dip in Barton Springs. Austin has a lot going on all the time, I think that’s pretty rad.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my family, my beautiful babies and friends. Thank you to all the people who let me work beside them and discover + showcase my passions and talents. I’ve had many mentors along the way and I’m incredibly grateful for them. Shoutout to my future self, too!
