We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Artzner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
It’s kind of strange to think of myself as a risk taker because for most of my life I have been very cautious and carefully planned every detail of how things would happen. It wasn’t until my husband wanted to start our own business that we began to see what risk taking really meant. The thought of leaving both of our full time jobs to pursue our own business was the scariest time in our lives. After 10 years of growing a business I have definitely learned that the risk is worth the reward. Growing our business, taking on all the liabilities and daily risks allows me the freedom to be there for our 2 small children whenever I need to be. Every hardship, every risk, every challenge is worth the freedom and flexibility owning a business that provides a schedule that works for our whole family. It allows us to work to build a future of endless possibilities for our children.
What should our readers know about your business?
SCA Sign Group is a commercial sign and lighting company that was started in our garage 10 years ago. We build custom signs for businesses in hopes to help others succeed. We want our customers to have years full of success by providing them with a high quality, beautiful sign that represents their business perfectly. In the past 10 years we have grown from a one man show in a garage to 13 full time employees, a full sign manufacturing facility and 2 full time installation crews. My husband is a Master Sign Electrician and his 25+ years of experience makes this company what it is. We pride ourselves on the way we treat our team members. We value them and the hard work, talent and skills each person brings. Our goal is to create a place where people enjoy being a part of small, family owned business where we believe family comes first.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my most favorite places to go is Old Town Spring. It’s a quick 15 minute drive to best mom and pop shops and eateries! Grannies Tamales and Corkscrew BBQ are an absolute must try if you are in Old Town Spring! Maggie’s is charming boutique with lots of gifts that I love to stop in.
I would also take them to Main Street in Tomball for more great eateries and shopping. The Turquoise Door and Kids Anthem are 2 of my favorite shops. We would definitely have to eat lunch at Fire Ant Brewery (their soft pretzel is to die for) or Tejas BBQ.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Chris Artzner. He is the brains, the muscle and the biggest supporter behind our business. He deserves so much recognition for his dedication to building our company.
