We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Maldonado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I am a parent. As a mother, structure is a major key for me. I believe that structure, routine, and a path to follow are keys to success. It starts with their school day routine, continues weekly chores and monthly calendars for all activities. Since my children were toddlers I’ve made it a great point to show my family how important it is to have a smooth flowing process.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am the owner of Heart Spring Organizing. A professional organizing service where I help busy people maintain an organized life, whether in their home or business. My fun, stress free approach to organization makes it easy to transform any space. When encountering a cluttered space most people see chaos. I see and zero in on the spaces’ potential. I instantly create a plan of action within the first few minutes.
Before I started this business I was a property manager in the apartment industry for years. As I would walk units I’d0 notice lack of organization within the community. After speaking with several residents, I learned that a lot of times organization is not taught. As a kid, my mother was paralyzed due to ALS. I was assigned the responsibility of keeping our home organized. Of course, as a child I hated it but now as an adult I know how important it is to maintain an organized life. When life feels out of control, organization can help you bring peace and clarity.
I literally started this business overnight, with zero money and no clients. I worked for free for the first month so I could get before and after photos to show my work. After the first paying client, it blossomed into a great service that truly helps people take control over their clutter. It took me time to learn that consistency is key. I would wait for someone to refer me, wait for a client to call. Trust me, that will not get you business. You have to build relationships, believe in the services you provide, be consistent, and support your fellow small business owners.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When friends come to town Campioni Restaurant is always the first stop. It’s a great family owned restaurant with authentic Italian food. A Saturday spent shopping in City Centre never disappoints. From small bakeries to high end boutiques. Seismique art museum would be a great spot for a Saturday night out. If you haven’t visited, I highly recommend it. To end the weekend I would go to State fair for brunch. The servings are huge and the drink selection is even better. This might be the most boring weekend to some but I’m a boring mom of three. My weekends consist of kid sporting events.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ooh yes, I love shout outs! The first would have to go to a dear friend, Carol Lopez. I’ve known Carol for about 6 years, I found her on Instagram while looking for a make up artist for my wedding. After my wedding we remained friends, so when I started Heart Spring Organizing she was one of the first people I told. She introduced me to networking and instantly became a great referral partner. From mentioning my name in rooms full of people, to hosting networking events together, and even good ‘ole outreach marketing. Over the years I have leaned on her for advice, encouragement, and laughter. Thank you Carol, I truly cherish our relationship!
