We had the good fortune of connecting with Stéphanie McGuirt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stéphanie, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in France and moved to the US at four years old. During the summer, I visited family overseas — sprinkled from Northwestern to the South of France. Experiencing multiple cultures first-hand shaped me in ways I am still learning. I always felt fascinated by the different lifestyles and outlooks I met along the way. This early exposure to different traditions and lifestyles encouraged my curiosity and creativity while nourishing my desire to explore my surroundings and write, write, write.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My writing career started when I worked as a bookkeeper, which happened by complete accident. I didn’t enjoy it and shifted my role from bookkeeping to the firm’s content creation. I learned everything I could about copywriting while creating lots of content on small businesses and finance. After two years, it was time for me to leap and I started my business, Bright Spot Copywriting. It wasn’t a difficult decision because I knew where my heart was. Although it felt hard to leave a partnership and the clients I had worked with for many years. But growth isn’t always easy and smooth, so I embrace the challenges and keep moving through them. 2022 marks my first year as a full-time copywriter. I’ve made lasting connections, and I’ve learned to embrace patience and simplicity — especially in business. I started the year off with my foot on the accelerator, and thankfully, I learned that when I slow down and keep my goal in focus, everything unfolds perfectly.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Colorado and there’s plenty to do across the state! If I had a week with a friend here in Colorado Springs, we’d eat pizza at Slice 420, grab a coffee or matcha at Carnelian Coffee Co, and, of course, get ice cream at Josh & John’s. We’d explore the area with a trip to Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs (my favorite), Pikes Peak, and Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver. There’s no better place to hang out and connect with a friend than on a hiking trail, so there’d be a lot of that too!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes, there are quite a few people to thank. My number one is my husband who gives me extraordinary support every day. We’re a homeschooling family, and it can feel challenging to juggle two jobs with school and family time. But, with his help, I can run a business and make my dream of having a career as a writer a reality.
