We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always loved flowers! I had to do my own wedding back in 1999 and several guests told me how beautiful the flowers were and that I have a God given gift!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I never considered floral design art until I got about 8-10 years into it. There are some that can copy a photo and duplicate a design. Then there are artists who just create what comes to mind and to me are true artists! I’ve had a few people tell me that my floral design could be a painting! That I am a true artist! Honestly, at first I couldn’t accept it. Then I realized that’s exactly what I am! A designer! My mom, who passed when I was 10 loved flowers! She worked in a couple of flower shops in her life. I would say she was definitely my first inspiration! When I got older and decided to pursue a career in floral design I dreamed from day one that I would have my own shop one day. When it came time to pick a name I had to some way name it after my mom Adele, but there were already shops in my area with that name. My mom was French and so one day I was thinking of the name and beautiful flowers came to my mind. I then asked my husband to help me figure out how to say beautiful flowers in French and it’s Belles Fleurs! “Prounonced Bell Fleur”. That’s how we decided on the name! Ever since I opened I’ve had a French theme to my shop and it’s been a huge hit! It definitely hasn’t been easy. This year has definitely been the most trying like most businesses. What I have learned though is to keep going. Despite how hard it gets just keep going! When you are given a talent, use it to spread around some beauty, love and hope! We are still trying to figure out how to overcome this pandemic like most, but I won’t give up that’s for sure!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well being BOI (born on the island) of Galveston I would definitely visit one of my most favorite spas at San Luis for massages and pedis and definitely have a beach day! Would definitely have to take her to Vargas Cut and Catch and Number 13, 2 of my favorite restaurants! Maybe stay a night at the San Luis. Also take her to my family’s bbq restaurant Queens BBQ. Then into Houston to stay at Hotel ZaZa or Fertita’s amazing Post Oak hotel. Visit the museums and parks. I could go on and on with this topic. She would definitely have to hang out with my friends and say hi to family!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband Steve! He encouraged me to take that leap of faith and has been my number 1 cheerleader since day one! I also want to give some credit to my best friend Rachel who has also encouraged me and supported me along the way! Last but not least I have to give credit to Adrienne! Who has been a long time friend and recommend me to you!
