We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Goudeau and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of my representation of my hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. They are extremely proud of me and I am excited to view my growth and put the city Shreveport in its rightful place.
It was not easy, through the many struggles I endured my family and friends pushed me to recognize my talent and gift. They continually guide me to where I need to be and to keep me on track.
Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way are the basic understanding that you will always be criticized for the work you put out and it gets hard sometimes, but you can never give up. You just have to keep going.
It’s simple…”Black Designers Do Exist.”
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Tru Kitchen & Cocktails for a good meal to start then I would do drinks at the Virgin Hotel because I like the atmosphere and its absolutely beautiful. Lastly, I would take them to Moxie’s to relax and enjoy the ambiance.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, of course. The Goud Family which includes my business manager Shantel Gaines and my parents are a huge inspiration to my story and my overall drive.
