We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamika Daniels and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamika, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of BellaMe Wax & Lash Studio has been creating an experience rooted in genuine care and connection. I started BellaMe after being laid off, during a time when I was forced to pivot and bet on myself. What felt like a setback turned out to be the push I needed to walk in my purpose. From day one, my goal wasn’t just to offer beauty services—it was to build a space where people feel seen, valued, and confident. I believe when clients trust you, they keep coming back—not just for the results, but for how you make them feel. Consistency, professionalism, and a warm, welcoming environment have been key. I’ve also focused on building real relationships with my clients and community, which has turned a service-based business into something much deeper: a trusted beauty sanctuary where self-care meets empowerment.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
BellaMe Wax & Lash Studio is more than a beauty business—it’s a space created to empower women to feel confident, cared for, and seen. We specialize in full-body waxing, lashes, and facial services with a focus on healthy skin. What sets us apart is the genuine care and intention behind every appointment. At BellaMe, clients don’t feel like just another name on the schedule—they feel valued, respected, and prioritized.

I started BellaMe after being laid off. At the time, it felt like a setback, but it turned out to be the opportunity I didn’t know I needed. It pushed me to bet on myself and walk fully in my purpose. Getting here wasn’t easy. There were late nights, financial uncertainty, and moments of doubt—but I overcame those challenges by staying grounded in my “why,” holding tight to my faith, and remembering the example my parents set for me: show up, work hard, and carry your name with pride.

I’m proud to share that BellaMe will be celebrating 10 years in business on August 1, 2025. That milestone is a testament to consistency, faith, and the incredible community that has supported me along the way. I’ve built BellaMe on relationships, trust, and results. Clients come back not just because of the services, but because of how they feel when they leave—beautiful, confident, and cared for.

What I want the world to know is this: BellaMe isn’t just about waxing or lashes—it’s about showing women that self-care is not selfish. It’s powerful. It’s permission to pour into yourself so you can keep showing up in the world as your best self.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Many of my friend are Foodies so their visit would definitely entail trying new Houston Foodie Hotspots. The itinerary would look aa little something like this:

Day 1: Welcome & Wine Down
We’d start at BellaMe Wax & Lash Studio so they can feel refreshed and pampered right from the start. Then, head to Steak 48 for a luxe welcome dinner—perfect steaks, seafood towers, and the right energy to kick things off. We’d finish the evening with rooftop drinks and views at Post Houston.

Day 2: Southern Comfort & Culture
Brunch would be at Lucille’s, where Southern classics are elevated and delicious. We’d spend the afternoon strolling through the Museum of Fine Arts or relaxing at Hermann Park.

Day 3: Taco Tour & City Views
We’d spend the day on a casual Taco & Margarita Crawl—stopping at Velvet Taco, La Calle, and El Tiempo. I

Day 4: Global Flavors
We’d grab brunch at The Warwick (great vibes and cocktails!)

Day 5: Sunday Funday
We’d start with a beautiful brunch State of Grace, then head to Buffalo Bayou Park for a walk.

Houston is full of culture, creativity, and incredible food—and that’s what I’d want to share most. From upscale bites to tacos on the go, there’s always something new to explore and taste in this city!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people who’ve played a part in my journey, but I have to start with my parents, Jannice and Bentley Phillips. As first-generation immigrants raising four children, they taught me the true meaning of work ethic, perseverance, and integrity. One thing they always told us before we left the house was, “Remember your last name.” It was their way of reminding us to carry ourselves with pride, respect, and excellence in everything we do. That mindset has stuck with me and become a guiding principle in how I run my business and live my life.
