We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Daniels and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tasha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My major thought process behind starting my own business was that I knew I wanted to not just be a boss, but be able to change my lifestyle as well as others. I didn’t know what it was going to be to make this change happen, but I knew that I was going to do something.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got to where I am today, by not ever giving up. I’ve had many obstacles along the way, starting with being homeless at one point and working multiple jobs at one time that just didn’t make ends meet. to try to work these jobs, with children, and be in school. There were many obstacles, but one thing I will say is that I never gave up, no matter what, if there was an obstacle, I found a way around it. I have learned that when something happens take about ten minutes cry it out dust yourself off and make a plan to get through it. I want the world to know that no matter what you are going through there’s a way through it but giving up is the one way that you’ll never see the rainbow on the other side.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend was visiting Houston, I’d first take her to Turkey Leg Hut for the food and drinks, then follow that up with a day in the museum district. Id also have to take her to see the beetles statue, because why not!?
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a few main people who I should definitely give credit in my story. The first two are my children, Aaryan and Aaiden, they are the ones who put the fire in me to go as hard as I have. Without them, I probably would’ve given up a long time ago honestly. As far as the person who gave me the idea to actually continue with my business the way that I have, as far as getting into locs, and helping other women who are on the same journey as way would be Lab Allen. The final person who has helped tie all of this together would be my business mentor John Fernandes. I these are the people who are in my life pushing me to do more on a regular basis and supporting my aspirations.
