We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Kinney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tasha, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing that outsiders may not realize about my industry is that your ideal clientele often aren’t the people you interact with daily. Finding your niche—your true audience—can be one of the biggest challenges. How do you connect with people who genuinely need and appreciate what you create?

For me, that challenge is amplified because I don’t just do one thing—I write curriculum, design digital products, create apparel, and develop branding items like tumblers, pins, and banners. With so many creative avenues, pinpointing and marketing to the right audience can be tricky. It’s a constant balance of refining what I offer while making sure it reaches the people who will benefit from it most.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business began just before COVID-19, during a time of uncertainty when creativity became both an outlet and an opportunity. It started with making glitter tumblers, designing shirts with relevant quotes, and exploring ways to generate income online while my husband was furloughed. With the world at a standstill, I launched my first Etsy store, which quickly evolved into my own website offering curriculum, apparel design, and branding tools.

Starting a business wasn’t easy—figuring out where to begin, creating the right setup, securing funding, and managing inventory were all challenges. I spent countless late nights fulfilling large orders with just a Cricut press and my own two hands, ensuring each product was perfect. Every challenge taught me something valuable—how to streamline processes, take care of clients, and set boundaries in business.

Through it all, my faith has been my foundation. I believe what’s meant for me will always find me. My journey has been one of patience, growth, and dedication, and I’m proud of how far my business has come. Today, I continue to create with passion, helping others bring their visions to life while staying true to my values.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would first like to give all glory and honor to God for His guidance, provision, and the gifts He has blessed me with. Without His strength and direction, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I also want to shout out my incredible tribe—my family, close friends, and everyone who has believed in me and supported my journey. Their encouragement, love, and faith in my abilities have been instrumental in my success. I am truly grateful for each person who has poured into me, lifted me up, and walked alongside me in this journey.
