We had the good fortune of connecting with Taurean Jorel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taurean, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Im from Houston Texas, grew up in the Missouri city area. I grew up in a two parent household, my dad, the serial entrepreneur lol, Has had his own businesses every since I was five years old, I mean the guy owns his own mobile detailing company, a food truck, snowcone truck, game truck and one of the most well known dog kennels in the country. My biological mother, who passed away when I was just 6 years old, was actually a really good singer, her music was on the radio at the time and she was a model, my stepmom, is a boss in the IT world. So as you can see, I was surrounded by hard-working people, who taught me the importance of working hard, working for myself, or being the boss if I worked for a major company. I definitely credit those 3 people for being a huge impact on my life

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As far as the music goes, im definitely proud about that. The people who support me always give me good feedback or let me know what i could have done differently. My time in the military taught me never to give up and I always felt like, if you can make it in the military you can make it anywhere, so that myself alone helps me get over small challenges. So with the music, it constantly changes, does styles constantly change, what’s hot constantly changes, so you have to change with it. As far as the non profit work, if you’re in Houston, you definitely have heard about The Relief gang, We have awesome people in the city who volunteer and to help us help the people of Houston and even sometimes Louisiana

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of foremost we are definitely gonna hit the Astros game lol , also, if Trae tha Truth booked us an event with Relief gang, I would definitely have my friends to come help volunteer with our non profit so they can see all of the work that we do for our city . Now for food, i’d definitely take them to a few food trucks, maybe the Turkey leg hut, the breakfast klub, and even this gentleman‘s club called Buckwilds, they have steak, lobster tails and baked potatoes all together for 10 bucks, that’s crazy! The fact that houston has everything that you need in order to have a good time, you can do anything from clubs and Or bars, go ATV riding ,mudding or even a quick 40 minute drive to the beach .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success definitely comes from the support of my family, my military family and my non profit group, the relief gang . With out all of them success would be a lot harder.
