We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Lashay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Balance for me has changed over time by becoming something I see more as a way of life rather than a thing that can be accomplished. Balance has become something that is not linear and instead something I use to reconnect with myself. Therefore I think about Balance as a form of accountability for me to take care of myself and be mindful of what I’m taking on, so I don’t burn myself out and actually have Balance in my day to day between taking care of myself, my consistent responsibilities with work and home life, and the things that unexpectedly pop up along the way.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I run a Holistic Life coaching business and I guide people through healing meditations and grounding practices, so that they can have accountability with their goals, with their energy, their focus, and with creating inner safety and connection that’s needed to keep us driven from an authentic place rather than a place of inadequacy and scarcity.

Which I think is what sets my business apart, I want to help people see themselves as leaders beyond their work. To know that leadership is a life skill, not just a professional position that comes with a set of skills that are only worth honing in on if your promoted in a professional setting. My work takes the hierarchy out of leadership and instead helps people integrate leadership into their day to day life, deepening the connection they have with their inner authority and sense of self worth that goes beyond just what they do.

I actually got to where I am because I was in a position where I had tried climbing many different corporate ladders, but I just constantly felt unsatisfied and felt like I didn’t align with the treating people like numbers and watching my fellow employees constantly be over looked. Some of which would have made excellent leaders and other who were great workers and deserved more recognition, pay, you name it !
So finally I sat at my kitchen table one day pondering if I should go back to school for psychology, started doing some research because I knew I needed to go a different way than corporate management. That led me to learning about the life coaching industry and i continued to be curious. That then led me here 3 years later, where I’ve helped so many amazing people in their healing journeys and helping them heal their burnout cycles by tapping into their inner authority and by no means was it easy!
It took a lot of determination and trust to get here, which are things that can very easily waver when your navigating a career and life change like starting your own business.

There have been so many lessons along the way and honestly they will just keep coming! That’s the beauty of this journey! However that Is also one of the greatest lessons, is that the lessons continue and often the same lessons come up. There’s a lot of foundational lessons that constantly come up, like trusting your own gut and intuition, staying curious to avoid becoming complacent, be adaptable and open minded because sometimes your self trust and actions have ripple effects you couldn’t have even imagined would happen from a single choice and you gotta remain open to seize the opportunity that comes with that.

I want the world to know that my story and my brand are a testament to what happens when you self promote, not just your work, but yourself as an authority figure in your life, nothing can stop you from having the life you deserve and desire. It may not be easy, but it will be worth it because every person is worthy of goodness, worthy of freedom, of love, of joy, and in today’s world we have a responsibility to ourselves and those we care about to go after what we know we can have, so our past don’t define our future as individuals and as a collective. I come from a family of major poverty, drug addiction, and violence, however I never let that stop me. Instead it fueled me. I saw the bad. I lived the hardship and it’s exactly why I keep going for what I desire, because I’ve seen plenty that I don’t want for myself or anyone else. Ive seen loved give their life to drugs because they didn’t have someone there to help them see their inner authority and see how they can have a better life and more importantly that they deserve a better life. My brand and story will remind people that we get to decide what we create with our past.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I reside in Savannah GA, so I would take them to all the best nature spots !

We would go out to Tybee Island to explore the beach.

We would go walk the streets of downtown savannah, as there are shops of all kinds to see. From witchy stores to antique stores to thrift shops to really unique spaces only here like some of the hidden gem book stores nestled away on side Streets.

We would definitely go get coffee at some of the coolest coffee spots like this spot called the porch which is older house that had a wrap around porch and makes really good coffee. Very cozy mom and pop place!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My former boss, mentor, and current best friend Emma Kennebeck.

She is who trained me in my first leadership position and she did so much more than just teach me how to be a good manager for a shoe store, she helped me see myself as a leader of my entire being and helped me see no matter my past I could lead and grow limitlessly if I deeply believed in myself and the inner authority I have. She is an amazing friend, epic leader, and constant inspiration !
