We had the good fortune of connecting with Tera Stidum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tera, what do you want your legacy to be?
Wow! This is such a fantastic question for me right now. As I recently watched the funeral for Congressman John Lewis, I was VERY reflective over my own legacy. Who have I touched? Where have I made an impact? How did I change the world? Even if it’s just my little corner of the world, my question is, “how did I change it.” And I know without a shadow of a doubt that my answer to the questions above is a resounding, “Yes.” So I want to be remembered as a woman who motivated other women to be BOLD in their relationships and lives in general. I want to remembered as a good Mom and Wife. And good friend too. I want to know that my “dash” made a difference.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from others, is that I am authentically and genuinely ME! I think that women who hear about me or stumble upon She Dates Savvy, find that we have many things in common, so they find me super easy to relate to. I got where I am today honestly with a lot of help from God, my Husband and a ton of hard work and sacrifice. I started She Dates Savvy after having a conversation with a girlfriend, about helping other women succeed at online dating, which is how I met my Husband. I knew nothing about starting or running a business, but I knew that I had a message and a gift to share. So, I launched my company at first with the idea of just hosting one webinar. But four years later, dozens of webinars later, TV appearances on Steve, The Book of John Gray, TD Jakes, FOX, 93.7, and featured in the Houston Chronicle, Voyage Houston, the business turned out to be much bigger than even I knew it would be. But, my Husband always knew, and that’s how we got here. Some parts of my journey have been so easy it’s scary. But others have been absolutely challenging. A lot, I’m learning as I go, and that’s fine too. My prayer right now is for God to send me the right team. There is a lot of noise in the Coaching and business coaching space, but I want someone who is not just a lot of noise, but can actually come in and help us continue to grow the brand. I’m still very excited that I get the opportunity to impact ladies lives for the better, in the area that matters most—relationships and love! I’m most proud that to date, three former clients have gotten married! That’s part of the legacy that I can look back on. When it comes to lessons, sure there are things I wish I had known when I started. Like, the value of building a list from day one. But, in hindsight, what I don’t have in numbers, I have in loyalty. And the biggest lesson I have learned and what gets me through and makes me keep going is, I know I’m great at helping ladies learn how to date smarter. So my confidence about making my brand and business continue to flourish, is because I know, someone out there is waiting for me to show up! So with each post, each live, each interview, article or TV appearance…I’m being the answer to someone’s problem. I want the world to know that this business comes from my heart and is truly my ministry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is so random, but I’m gonna have to go back in time to the late 90s, early 2000s. We would definitely have to make a stop at Pappadeaux, so they can experience the food and scenery. Then, after eating all we can hold, we would move on over to Scott Gertner’s Sky Bar for a night of dancing and more people watching! I use to LOVE that place when I was in college and really miss a good place to dance and have a good time. These days, I don’t get out much…even pre-COVID. But I would probably say, book some bikes at SoulCycle. Then head to Buffalo Bayou park. I then eat fried chicken and shrimp at LaLucha. And drink margaritas and laugh about the old days of dancing at the Sky Bar!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh, gosh! Without a doubt, my Husband, Reginald. He is the reason the She Dates Savvy brand exists. He built it for me, I just showed up and opened my mouth. For sure, my children who have given me a reason to strive to be the best example I can be for them. And my Girl Tribe! I’m part of two text threads that absolutely give me LIFE & ENCOURAGEMENT & LAUGHTER, just when I need it!
