Meet Teresa Taylor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Teresa Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teresa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Our business didn’t begin with a traditional plan — it grew naturally out of our family, our faith, and our lifelong involvement with kids and animals. Greg and I have always been hands-on parents and grandparents. We volunteered at schools, coached soccer, helped with show animals… and I spent 13 years caring for grandbabies full-time. When the youngest was finally starting preschool, I knew I needed something meaningful to stay busy.
I had always dreamed of owning Highland cows. After we built the barn for the grandkids’ show steers, Greg surprised me two Christmases ago with two Highlands — the start of what is now our beautiful little herd. And this year, we welcomed our first baby calf born right here on the farm, which felt like such a full-circle blessing.
Watching our grandkids interact with the animals showed us how much joy and confidence animals bring to children. That’s what made us say, “Why don’t we share this with others?” So we opened the farm for private visits. Families came, and something special happened — they slowed down, laughed, connected, and made memories with our animals. From there, photographers reached out wanting Highland cow sessions, and things snowballed in the best possible way.
As visits grew, we realized we needed a better system. I got tired of hauling tubs of Highland cow merchandise and tallow products back and forth from the house every time someone wanted to shop — it slowed everything down. So I “stole” the feed room in the barn and turned it into our onsite store. It wasn’t planned, but it worked perfectly and became one of guests’ favorite parts of their visit.
We’ve even had surprise engagement proposals at the farm — including Ginger delivering the engagement ring herself. Moments like that made us realize the farm wasn’t just a place… it was becoming a space where people celebrate some of the biggest moments of their lives.
Around that same time, my childhood friend Mimi — a nurse with the same heart for natural living — came to me with the idea of doing something together. We both love all-natural products, and I had a grandchild with eczema we didn’t want to treat with steroids. After a full year of researching and testing, Nonna & Mimi’s Farmacy @ 5T Farm was born.
What started as simple, clean skincare for our families has grown into a full tallow-based line — anti-aging lotions, pain relief, natural sun barrier, bug repellent, a men’s grooming line, beard balms, lip balms — now 16 formulas plus limited editions, many created based on customer requests.
We now host events too — like Painting With the Cows, where guests paint under the sunset, cuddle our Highlands, enjoy s’mores, and make memories. And this year we’re hosting the Crosby 4H Christmas Cookies & Cow Cuddles event, complete with Santa — our way of giving back to the kids in our community.
So our thought process behind starting our business wasn’t “How do we build a company?”
It was, “How can we use our land, our animals, our friendship, and our hearts to bless families, create joy, and build community?”
Everything — the visits, the proposals, the photography, the events, the store, and our natural product line — grew from simply wanting to share what we have with others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
5T Farm is a family-run agritourism farm, photography destination, event space, and the home of our natural skincare brand, Nonna & Mimi’s Farmacy. But more than anything, it’s a place built on faith, family, and the joy we’ve always found in sharing animals with kids.
What makes our business unique is that everything grew naturally out of our life. We watched how our grandkids lit up around our animals — feeding Roo the lamb, holding chickens, brushing our Highlands — and that joy made us want to share it with others. So we opened the farm for private visits. Families come to slow down, breathe, laugh, and experience the magic that animals bring. It truly fills our hearts to see.
We never expected photographers to reach out, or for people to choose our farm to celebrate huge life moments, but they did — and it’s been such a blessing. As a photographer myself (though I don’t have much time to edit anymore!), I always knew there was something special to capture here. But I didn’t realize just how special it would be to watch a baby’s first birthday photoshoot with Ginger, or to witness someone choosing our farm for one of the most important moments of their life — a surprise proposal. Ginger has even delivered the engagement ring! Those moments mean just as much to us as they do to the families who trust us with them.
Over time, requests started coming in for weddings, birthdays, and other special events. And while we’re incredibly honored and excited that people want to celebrate here, we always laugh that we’ll need more parking before we say yes to hosting a whole wedding. But the fact that people want to choose 5T Farm for their milestones is something we don’t take lightly. We are truly blessed to have a place this special, and it does our hearts good to share it with others.
Our onsite store started out of pure necessity — I got tired of hauling tubs of merchandise from the house — so I “borrowed” Greg’s feed room. Instead of complaining, he transformed it into the cutest little store, and it’s become a favorite part of the farm experience.
And then there’s Nonna & Mimi’s Farmacy, which started when my lifelong friend Mimi (a nurse) and I decided to do something meaningful together. After having a grandchild with eczema we didn’t want to treat with steroids, we spent a year researching and testing formulas. Today, we’ve created a full line of natural tallow-based skincare with 16 formulas plus limited editions, from anti-aging to pain relief, natural sun barrier, bug repellent, men’s grooming, beard balm, lip balm, and more — many inspired by customer requests.
Has building this business been easy? Not at all. It took long nights, early mornings, learning by doing, and saying “yes” even when we weren’t sure how it would turn out. But the biggest lesson we’ve learned is this:
When your work comes from the heart, and you serve people with love and consistency, everything begins to align.
What we want the world to know about 5T Farm is simple:
This is a place of connection — to animals, to nature, to family, to community, and to the moments that matter most.
We are honored to share it with others, and every person who visits becomes a part of our story.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I’m being completely honest, we don’t make it to “the city” very often — farm life keeps us busy from sunup to sundown. Most of our days (and nights!) are spent right here at 5T Farm with the animals, guests, and events. In fact, this weekend will be our very first time venturing into downtown Houston as vendors for the Discovery Green Night Market, so that will be a fun change of pace for us.
Even though we don’t get out much, we’ve had visitors from all over the world — Canada, Qatar, Palestine, California, New York, North Carolina, and more — and they always ask where the best food is around here. We stick to our favorite local spots:
• Straight Off the Road BBQ right here in Crosby
• El Toro in Baytown for great Mexican food
• And when it’s in season, the famous Crawfish Shack in town
So if a best friend came to visit, our version of the “best time ever” would be a mix of simple, meaningful things: time on the farm, Highland cow cuddles, feeding Roo the lamb and the chickens, and enjoying some good small-town Texas food. It’s not fancy, but it’s real — and that’s exactly why people love it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Greg. None of this would be possible without him. He listens to every crazy idea I come up with, and instead of questioning it, he shows up 110% ready to support it. Whether it’s helping with farm visits, assisting photographers, or becoming a pro at selling our tallow products at markets, he jumps in without hesitation.
He’s the one who hauls all the tables, tents, chairs, displays, and tubs — and rearranges his entire schedule to make sure I have what I need. He let me take over his feed room and then surprised me by transforming it into the cutest little farm store. And of course, he’s the one who surprised me with my first Highland cows, knowing how much I had dreamed of them.
Greg has always been someone who puts others first. His whole life has been about helping, serving, and doing for everyone around him. I truly could not have built 5T Farm or Nonna & Mimi’s Farmacy without his support, steady presence, and unconditional belief in me.
We’ve been together since I was 15 — since 1983 — married since 1987. He was my high school sweetheart, and I can promise you that when he asked me on that first date, he never imagined he’d end up neck-deep in tallow and cow poop. But here we are, building this life and this dream side by side. And I’m beyond grateful to walk every bit of it with him.
