We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiahna Greer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiahna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started my business I thought about longevity, what I really seen enjoyment in doing and what I actually have serious interest in! My biggest thing is, If I am investing in something, I want it to be something I am head over hills IN LOVE with doing. Therefore, I will always enjoy it, and it will never feel like my past jobs that I hated. While it being something that I love, I also wanted a business that would represent me for a life time! When I turned 23, I always told myself my first passive business venture needed to be named after me! Not only because I love my name, but I always said that I wanted my name to make me rich! I could’ve easily came up with a cute business name, but I wanted my name to represent me when my time finally comes.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am so proud of the entrepreneur/business lady I have became. It seems like so long ago when I first started my business. Before I was a lash tech or any type of business woman, I was just a 17 year old college student, from Milwaukee Wi. I was a college student attending the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh as a biology major. Just a regular college girl trying to survive like everyone else. When I became a sophomore in college, I started working at my school’s convenience store along with 6 of my other friends. But I didn’t too much get along too well with the manager and got fired the following summer. I was so sad, didn’t know where to go from there with that being my only income. I couldn’t really get jobs back in my hometown because they wanted longevity within their employees…something I couldn’t offer because I was a college student. From that point forward, I took that as a sign to go after my dreams, and do what I felt was more for me. That previous year, I had always showed a huge interest in lash extensions and providing the service, but I didn’t have the motivation and push that I needed to just go for it. I was nervous, and just didn’t know where to start. So when I got fired, I really took that as a sign, and used it to take that leap of faith that I’ve always wanted. My step-dad always seen my potential, and was ready support anything I always wanted to do and paid for my $750 training course. In August of 2017 I took the 5 hour course, got certified in lashing and then came “Lash Tee” (my lash business/business name) I was so insecure in the beginning of my journey. But I didn’t let that stop me. I just kept going. From there I just practiced, practiced, practiced. I didn’t give up on college, and I also didn’t let it get in the way of me mastering the skill of lashing either. For the last 3 years of my college career, I would drive a hour and 20 minutes every weekend going back in forth from my hometown (MILWAUKEE, WI) to school (OSHKOSH, WI) JUST to lash. It was something I was so passionate about, so I was willing to do anything behind it. Fast forward to, May of 2020, my senior year. I had finally made it to the finish line and graduated college. This was the toughest journey I have ever overcame in life. I was able to travel back and forth to lash every weekend for 3 years, and still manage to graduate. I even was able to write a book and PUBLISH it the same day of my graduation. The book was simply about my journey as a college student, entrepreneur and managing a social life and still able to make it to the finish line and graduate. From there I was able to finally 100% focus on my lash business and it changed my life for the absolute better. Fast forward to today, I am exactly at 4 years in business. I am a college graduate, an author, Lash Tech, Lash Instructor and Lash Mentor. This year I was able to launch my dream business. My cosmetics line! “T. Nicole Cosmetics”. My business would never be possible without my journey, and absolutely nothing without my lash business, lash clients and lash students! Lash Tee is what made me! But T. Nicole Cosmetics will be in rooms I have never been in!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area for the weekend and I wanted to show her the best time ever! Friday, we would start by getting super cute and going to “Lost and Found” for a nice daytime vibe! Drink some nice drinks, some hookah and just have a ball! I would then take her to the Galleria Mall because its humungous and back where we are from, malls aren’t even twice the size. I would then take her to Seaside Lounge for a night vibe. On Saturday we would go to Taste Bar to eat and hookah. and Sunday we would probably go to Phil and Dereks for Brunch, and probably end the weekend at the strip club (Bunny’s). lol
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would never be where I am at today without the support of my family, friends, my CLIENTS and true supporters. (Subscribers & Followers)
