We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Young-Holman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was to provide for my son and work for myself doing what I love. First, find out what my why is and take steps to go after my dreams. I thought what better way than a gift shop that customers can be given out of love for an anniversary, birthday, etc. Then I realize that not the only thing I love doing. In 2006 I started a group to help small businesses network and support each other businesses. Provide information that minority businesses usually don’t receive. For instant building business credit, registering as a minority business, and proper structure of the business.  I get up researching and go to bed researching different business-building skills that I can share and add value to any business but especially the black women. Through that thought process me starting Black2Black consulting adds meaning to my life. The ability to help black women and men own businesses. That’s at the top of my thought so I dive into learning to add value to our community. Some people spend their time doing things that are self-center, but I strive to educate with the knowledge I learn to serve business owners through mentoring/consulting. I started a magazine Black 2 Black Magazine that allows black- own businesses to show authority with their expertise in the black community throughout the world. Now that’s an affirmation that will come to pass throughout the world business owners will be known for their expertise in my magazines. My thoughts we all win in business if we’re supporting each other and collaborating. I love speaking life into black own business that is not set up or has the resources to move forward with their dream. I’m a library for business resources because of my hunger for knowledge in business skills and resources.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a serial entrepreneur that loves to educate other business owners on what I know or learned that sets me apart. I’m always researching and taking classes to learn more. My heart in Black 2 Black is to serve people who are eager to promote and support like-mind individuals and businesses. I got here today with drive and determination with one of many mottos. “We all can win” if we support each other like the big chain stores and not tear each other down that’s what Black 2 Black is about only positive vibes in my network. The network is your net worth. So, when I do anything all negative to the side will be removed. I can say it was not easy but anything worth having you must work harder to achieve and keep it going. I was overcome by my mindset shift in finding my purpose. I was always told if you can’t say anything good don’t say anything. I live by it most of the time. When it is for your good. What I want people to know about my brand. Black 2 Black is a consulting business and magazine company. Online Store that has a variety of merchandise. Through Black 2 Black I want to see everyone win so I provide the tools to be successful and walk you through it. I’m not about giving false hope or doing it for your type of business but walking you through the steps. I mentor through another organization where I gain a vast amount of knowledge. I’m a licensed life insurance agent that can help you insure you as a small business owner. Looking to travel I can help you plan that business trip or retreat for you or your clients. Looking for a gift or general merchandise I offer high-quality merchandise through https://www.tnjemporium.com So, excited about I just launch a magazine this month to serve my clients and future clients with a business magazine that serves all but especially black women and men. Advertising opportunities for black own businesses all over the world to get their business out to everyone that subscribes to digital magazines with future print https://www.black2blackmagazine.net

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting, I would take them to a concert or play if one has been held. Would go see the African American Museums then out to brunch at Houston Museums of African American Culture. Attend any Juneteenth or Black History events held that week. Go on a girl’s shopping trip at an outlet near us. Go to Emancipation Avenue to see some history. Explore all of Freeman’s Town history. Have a friend’s movie night with popcorn and good seafood with drinks, Place to go eat here is the name to a few Phil & Derek Restaurant, Kulture, The Turkey Leg Hut, and The Breakfast Klub.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would give credit to my grandfather Harrison Cauley who had the entrepreneur /business owner drive that has inspired me through the stories I heard from my mom, and my son has been my driving force because I want to leave a legacy for him. Entrepreneurship is strong on both sides of my family, so it’s instilled in me. I hired a coach to help keep me accountable and reset my mindset it has added value to my business journey. Courageous Coaching MT, Mignon Thomas has been wonderful in helping keep me accountable and working out my thought process so very much recommended. My family/friends support me by helping me reach my goals or buying and referring someone.
