We had the good fortune of connecting with Tommy Danger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tommy, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Slow motion is better than no motion. It’s taking smalls steps is better than standing still. It is one of those old school sayings from the OG’s in Harlem. It’s also like reaffirming that you good in life cause you are still moving.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Tommy Danger – The Now and Laterman is a Hip artist from Harlem, New York. I started doing mixtapes in the early 2000s and created a local buzz as I gave away candy in exchange for email addresses. I created a series of mixtapes under the Now & Laterman moniker, volumes 1-12. One of my strengths is consistency and discipline. When I lock in on a process, it becomes a lifestyle. It’s not easy because my journey has had a lot of peaks and valleys. Building a music industry network can take many forms, from creating a local buzz to starting a mixtape series and creating a public access TV channel. Then there are taxes and imposter syndrome. I took a long break for about 10 years and started rapping consistently again during the pandemic. This time, I intentionally joined communities that pushed me creatively, business-wise and self-awareness. All three help keep me balanced and focused on continually building my brand. It’s shown me that you can be an artist but the lanes for revenue are unlimited. You must believe and have the mindset to know where you want to go and keep going. I want people to know that Tommy Danger represents the 9 to 5er that are hood survivors. The music will uplift you and give you the hard truth about life to push forward.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The best time in the New York city starts with Central Park and a walk or jog to the reservoir. Gotta stay healthy so we would stop by a local juice spot to grab some beet or green juice. For lunch we would go to indian summer for some chicken Tikka and Aloo Vindaloo with garlic naan, Stop by the world famous Apollo Theater and take in the sights on 125th and take a trip down to Hudson yards and do some shopping. Comeback uptown and redcord a few tracks at the home studio. Stop by Lolos for some seafood and frozen drinks. The entire time we are documenting the entire process to have as content.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
