We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Tran and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tony, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be that I did my very best to support my community and people. I hope to help as many people as I can, in anyway possible. By helping others in my community, I can bring another person a step towards their best self, and they’ll be able to help others around them become their best selfs.
I want people to remember me with the thought of someone that lived their life as their authentic self. I hope to show others my positivity and how I was just a genuinely cool guy!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a Fitness Coach, I work with anybody on their journey to better themselves. Depending on your goals, we’d work on your training, diet, and build healthier habits. What sets me apart from others is that I am the same as you! I understand the hardships of life and how hard it is to take care of your own health while managing everything on your plate. Thats why I do what I do, I’m able to connect with my clients and empower them to make positive changes towards their lives.
I first started out at a commercial gym, which is usually everybody’s first step. From there I tried to learn everything I can just about everything. I rose from a personal trainer to Fitness Manager there and basically ran the gym myself. At that point I felt I wasn’t growing anymore as a professional and trainer and looked for more opportunities. I found the gym I work at now(Kinitro Fitness) and met with the owner. I then began my journey there, working around peers of the same discipline and growth mindsets.
It definitely wasn’t easy. Every step of the way I had no idea what I was doing, I felt like I hit every obstacle known to man. But with each obstacle came a lesson to learn and grow from. I learned how to assess my situations, plan my choices, and take action to overcome anything that came my way. There isn’t any obstacle that can’t be overcome without careful planning and action.
I want people to know that me and my brand stand for achieving a better you, and that starts with believing in yourself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Theres only 2 things to do in Houston, and thats eat and enjoy the night scene. I’d definitely have to bring them to the food scene first. We have a huge selection of cultural food to pick from! Some places I will say are great experiences are Handem for ayce korean bbq, Handies douzo for Sushi, and Pho Ben for some good ole Vietnamese food. For the nights we’d have to check out a couple of my favorite bars! Space cowboy has great vibes and drinks, Kirby Ice house for a more relaxed scene, or Unicorn Disco to get your funk on. Theres still so many places to go and try. Houston can’t be defined by just these places. The best way to experience Houston would be to just get lost, meet some new friends and just explore the city.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
EVERYONE!!!!! I wouldn’t have made it this far if it weren’t for everyone I’ve met on my journey. To my family and friends who have supported me throughout this time! I’ve never not felt that I didn’t have their support and backing. I definitely want to say a huge part of my success was from the Kinitro Team and my boss and mentor John Ding. I have learned everything I know from him about all aspects of my career and craft. I know a lot of other teams or people wouldn’t have been so welcoming but he and Kinitro have, and for that I am forever thankful for this community I was accepted into.
