We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis Weaver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Travis, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I used to think you had to work 70+ hours a week to prove yourself and that would transpire to happiness and and business success. This is not the case. You need a proper work life and personal life balance and if it’s tilted in either direction too much, something will have to give! Pick the right balance that’s for you and modify if needed!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Manready to show people that you can start some thing from nothing and you can change your stars if you put in the time, work smart, support and respect, your neighbors, and a few other things here and there lol. I’ began with $100 and was making soy candles in whiskey glasses in my apartment and I sold them to neighbors and the flea markets on the weekend after my day job. It doesn’t really sound all that glamorous but people just have to understand you have to start somewhere. It may not be your ultimate Dream in the beginning as to what you’re doing but you just have to get off the couch and work! You have to put your past to the side, understand what you have or do not have to work with, and realize that nobody’s gonna give you anything. You will have to earn it, and it will not always be easy! The thing that makes me most proud is whenever. I hear another business owner / entrepreneur say they read my story somewhere and decided it was time for them to pursue their dreams and that just blows me away! Go make it happen!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I have a friend visiting Houston, I would for sure take them to Coltivare for dinner, over to Texas Star Grill Shop and get them a crazy tomahawk ribeye steak and cook it in my backyard, I’d take them down to the beach in Galveston so that my two Weimaraners could run around and hang out, though they don’t really like the water. Their names are Dylilah and Indie btw and are both a hot mess…but I love em! Lastly, I’d introduce them to my friends, Jared, Bill, and Sean. They are all very different people, and they’re all interesting in their own unique ways. They all three have creative and interesting things to do and I’ll leave that up to them to help show my friends from out of town a good time as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Growing up in a small town in central Texas taught me the value of hard work and respecting your neighbors. My grandfather Lawrence Crutsinger has been my inspiration along the journey as he was the hardest working family man I’ve ever met. I didn’t realize at the time back then, how his tenacity and drive would impact the rest of my life. When times get tough, I know he’s looking down and with his strength, I’m able to push though any obstacle. He will always be my hero.
