We had the good fortune of connecting with Tristen Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tristen, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Honestly I’ve tried everything from x-ray tech to hvac. And I hated it! Every time I tried doing the so called normal work It would drain me and cause depression. The only thing that feels right is to creative.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well first off I wouldn’t have ended up in Houston if it wasn’t for music. I’m from Detroit, MI originally but my producer skill got me trip down here to produce for some of the homies, universal records project. They flopped but I stayed. Comedy came after a vacation at Harris County Jail and I had the co’s dying laughing, they kept saying get on stage. When I got out I did and it worked out.
Chasing any dream is hard because of multiple factors such as outside opinions, inner doubt, shit debt. All those thing pull at you daily. The thing that keeps me going is that I already know what would happen if I quit, not a damn thing. But If keep going there’s no limit.
The main thing I want the world to get from my brand is…… Fuck em! Do you!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First thing first got to go to the hood for the herbal, then ost to do ratchet shit! Then balance it out with a lil church on Sunday
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
GOD! I mean I love my support system but ain’t nothing more dependable then God For Real! I do alot which alot of times people can’t understand its like they only want me to be good 1 thing, when God gave me so much to offer. But outside of the big Guy, I would say my mama, she don’t always understands my vision but she support the fact the I have one.
