We had the good fortune of connecting with Tye Moores and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tye, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing that outsiders aren’t aware of is it takes time, dedication, and consistency. A lot of long nights are spent working that are often thankless. A lot of questioning yourself takes place as an entrepreneur ESPECIALLY being a woman.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is authentically being myself. I’ve never tried to be anything other than me. I’ve always been a jack of all trades with being able to be a creative in more than one area. Being a photographer, brand manager, and producer all while teaching high schoolers has been challenging but so fulfilling. I got to where I am today because I have no problem working across. I love working with other creatives in my field making sure we all make it. It’s not about who is better or who has the most clout. The way I overcome the challenges are just having strong boundaries and a good heart. Along the way, I’ve learned that you can’t work with everybody – work with who makes sense for you. Making art from your heart instead of trying to make it is key. Wondering ‘would I still do this if I wasn’t getting paid?’ is key. I want people to know that I do everything from my heart and I make work for creative people to be the best that they can be whether it’s with another client or my own fine art.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Let’s pretend it’s a summer day! Now, I’m from the west side of Chicago so I tend to lean towards that side of town, however if you come to Chicago we have to go to Harold’s on the south side and get a 6 piece with mild sauce, black pepper, and lemon pepper. I want to go get drinks in Fulton Market District. Let’s go see a show at Museum of Contemporary Art. While we’re downtown let’s hit up a beach then end the night at a chill bar or club in Wicker or in Hyde Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my teachers, parents, and late auntie for making me the artist I am today.
