Meet Tyler Trevino | Temp Tats Magazine Owner & Operator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Trevino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I have two goals with Temp Tats Magazine. Most importantly, to provide a platform for local bands and artists to showcase their talent, network, and grow their fan base. Secondly, to create a physical archive of punk in this decade. This will allow future generations to see how DIY music and culture have evolved over time.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Many people don’t realize that Temp Tats Magazine is a passion project, not a business with employees. Essentially, I do everything by myself, including but not limited to graphic design, photography, writing and conducting interviews, videography, merch design and screenprinting, articles, plus social media and real-life networking. For me, this is more than a business venture – it’s a form of artistic expression that I’m incredibly passionate about.
I can’t believe how much Temp Tats has blown up in the last year, and honestly, I think it’s because of my dedication. I spend every minute of my free time working on it. It’s simply something I’m immensely passionate about, and it makes me happy to see it doing well.
I want the world to know that what I’ve accomplished so far is just the beginning of my journey. I have only been doing this for a year, and I am still in high school. Once I have the accessibility and time to produce more work, I plan on making Temp Tats Magazine a big deal.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place is House of J, sitting at 323 Hutchenson Street, this DIY house venue provides a guaranteed unforgettable night. Every month, they host a 100% free show, making punk accessible to everyone. The free event has so much more than music, in the past they’ve had workshops for screenprinting, abstract painting, and patch sewing. There are also lots of vendors that sell handmade items such as jewelry and zines.
Bohemeo’s cafe is another one of my favorite spots in town because they have live music events and a great atmosphere. I always get the vanilla oat milk latte and kombucha on tap. They also host fun events, such as the Temp Tats Zine & Art Market every couple of months.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The support from the Houston music scene is so meaningful to me. I am constantly inspired by the passion and creativity of the artists and musicians in this city. I feel lucky to be a part of such a creative, flourishing community. Houston, thank you for helping me pursue my passion, and for making this city such a special place to call home.
