We had the good fortune of connecting with V. Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi V., what role has risk played in your life or career?
To start my whole career was a risk! Coming one year out of college I couldn’t find a job in my field so I decided to go to cosmetology school and get my license. Starting your own business and bring your own boss is a huge risk because you don’t have the “security” of a regular 9-5! I’m such a over thinker when it comes to taking risk for myself and my business. It can take me weeks sometimes to make decisions. But when I’m really undecided or worried I write down what I want to happen in my manifestation journal and I pray over it. Once I make my decision I no longer worry over it because I have faith in God and know it will work out in the end. Every risk I have taken hasn’t failed me yet.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well I’ve been lashing for 3 years now. I started working from home, then was mobile, when back to working from home and now I’m working in a suite. I have grown a lot in my years in the industry. You’ll definitely get some tough skin working in the beauty industry. It’s a challenge everyday trying to keep with my colleagues. But what I have learned is that you can’t focus on what everyone else on social media has going on. You have to tune it all out and focus on what you, your business and your clients have going on. I feel like my customer service is definitely what sets me apart from others. I also get complimented on how well my customer service is. I try my best to keep all lines of communication open for all my clients so that each and every service can go as smooth as possible.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You want before or after COVID? Lol. Well now I would visit some black owned establishments and maybe some museums since they are back open. If we could find some cool activities that are social distanced then that too.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost God. Without him I would not be nothing. Second is Dina Lopez. She’s the owner of a lash studio I worked at. She hired me and trained me when my worked sucked lol.
