We had the good fortune of connecting with Victor Lofinmakin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victor, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
One of my biggest motivations of starting a business comes from my desire to give back. I have always been so grateful for the business owners and entrepreneurs that I have worked at their firm and always pondered if they did not make the effort to start their business, would I have had the opportunity to work at their firm and learn from them. With that spirit, I wanted to do the difficult thing and open my business, so that I can pay it forward and give others the opportunity to make a living.
What should our readers know about your business?
We have a multitude of companies within the Real Estate and Financial Services sector. including Fairdale Realty, Gazette Mortgage, Academy Property Management, Freedom Capital Group, Easy Continuing Education, Almanac Insurance and many more. I have also published 3 books, namely, “Success Made Simple”, “Will You Ever Be Rich?”, “Finding Happiness Is Your Only Purpose”. What sets us apart are our Core Values, namely: Knowledge, Integrity, Service, Results and Fun.
Being in business is incredibly difficult, and I almost gave up numerous times at the beginning of my business career. It is incredibly challenging, however, the more I thought of my “Why” in my business, I persisted and the “Why” kept me going.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You stumped me with this question. I would probably take them to my office and then home. That’s basically what I do. I enjoy spicy food and cajun food. I also like to hang out a bit at lounges and bars that are not too loud. Houston is not a very touristy city, so I tend to travel a lot to see other cities.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that deserve a lot of credit for my success. My parents definitely, especially my dad is my biggest hero and number one fan. My wife, my parents-in-law, my siblings, my mentors (Nike and Ralph Ojo, Tarl Anderson, Jennifer Hernandez and many more). The US Navy has had considerable influence on my life and all the mentors and senior leaders that I have worked for. Notably, Admiral Lee Singleton, General Mark Brown, Admiral Dion English, Dan Bessman and many more. My best friend, Shae Ogungbemi, the VP of our mortgage company, Kerry Ogrodowicz etc. Of course, I am going to get in trouble because I have had countless of people who have made great contributions to my life, and I cannot mention them all.
