We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Glasscock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Whitney, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think risk is one of the most rewarding things you can take for yourself. Without risk, you will never fully know what you’re capable of. My largest goal in life is to make sure I am constantly striving to be better and to live up to my highest self. To always challenge my potential, and to always try to live as an example of showing others what is possible (including myself). I have taken a lot of risk in my life and my career paths. I always knew entrepreneurship was something I wanted for myself. It’s never a straight path. Half of the time you have no idea what you are doing, or how quickly things will happen. But it is worth every single second!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
At Topped Off Co. I offer balloon decor to give your event, party, or celebration all the luxury it deserves! Everyone loves a great Photo op! I think one of the coolest things about balloon art is every single person you see out here doing it has their own style and their own flare they bring to their pieces!! I got into balloons about 6 years ago. I worked for a balloon company for almost 5 years which is where I learned how to work with them and grow my skill. After parting way with that company I started working at a flower shop as a florist. I loved the creative aspect of designing bouquets and loved that I was still able to do something that was fun and I enjoyed. People at the shop also inquired for balloons and since I already had the skill I started making organic garlands for some of the inquiries we received through them. As time went on I was doing a lot of garland out of my apartment for friends and family. Knowing I have always wanted to have my own business, I bit the bullet and decided on the name “Topped Off Co.” and decided to go all in on the craft and bring my style to the industry. Creating makes me so happy. And there’s nothing better than when people love the work you bring to make their celebration special.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a huge foodie!!! About 3 years ago I started a list of all the restaurants in the city I want to go to! The restaurant industry in Houston is huge! So as time goes on I add to the list and check mark them off as I go! Other than trying new amazing food I’m a local in the heights and absolutely love the community here! All of the bars/coffee shops in the heights feel like home. You can catch me at mcintyres any time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a huge shoutout and thanks to all of my friends, family, and my boyfriend. I have been so blessed with the BIGGEST most incredible support system I could ever ask for. They reassure me daily that I can do anything I put my mind to. And that in itself is so priceless.
