We had the good fortune of connecting with William Bartlett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi William, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I use art as a cathartic outlet to help me cope with the general struggles of life. I have used art for this same purpose in the past to help me over come more serious issues, such as depression, anxiety, and addiction. My motivation for improving my brand exposure is to spread awareness of creative and artistic catharsis.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Art-catharsis has led to me significant success with in the local art community and I am grateful for it, but my goal now it is to spread awareness of the miraculous effects that artistic catharsis can have! Not only traditional art, but any artistic hobby really, anything to stimulate creativity and emotion. My pieces are very expressive because I pour bottled-up emotion into them. This process has helped me cope with many struggles and challenges. This path has led me to many new friendships and experiences. I have improved my craft as well as my social skills. The emotion in my pieces have reached out and touched relatively timid and shy people. I want to inspire others to not only allow themselves to feel their emotions, but to pour it out onto a canvas, so to speak, so that they too can positively bond with others in an empathetic way! Art has always influenced the world in a positive way. I want to spread this power in these modern times to hopefully make the world a better place. If not, at least our cities will be nicer to look at.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely check out the art scene! There are so many great places to see art in Houston! We would definitely check out some fine art galleries like Heidi Vaughn Fine Art, Sawyer yards area and all of the studios within, catch a bite to eat at my favorite restaurant North Italia. Maybe check out a convention at the George R. Brown like Anime Matsuri! Maybe watch the Astros, Texans, or Dynamo play! Check out the carnival at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, end that night with the Rodeo and a concert! We could check out Bayou City Art Festival or swing by Hardy and Nance Studios and check out one of Insomnia Gallery’s shows for local artists! I’d like to also stop by the Houston Zine Festival at The Orange Show and check out some local artisan markets such as Macabre Market at Equal Parts Brewing and the Eight Bit Thrift market at St. Charles Studios! I would set apart some time for a Tarot reading from the illustrious Nicole from Add Fresh Herbs! And finally but definitely have some dinner in Katy! The possibilities in Houston are endless!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost all my love to the thousands of people who like my art enough to follow me and even go so far as to buy from me! My biggest appreciation is reserved for my loving wife and partner who has instrumental in my brand success. Thirdly, shoutout to the hundreds of fellow artists that i have met along the way who have helped and supported me as well as inspired me.
