We had the good fortune of connecting with Wyndigo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wyndigo, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
One of the main reasons I decided to pursue a creative career was the realization I had when I was 19. I was working on Washington Avenue at a burger spot waiting tables, and one day I kind of took a deep look in the mirror and decided that I was extremely unhappy. Growing up I always was heavily focused on music and really didn’t do much else, especially when it came to my studies in school. I could have cared less about getting a decent grade and my only real outlet was music but after graduating high school I kind of thought that might have been a pipe dream. Interestingly enough it was far from it. It’s a lot of work to pursue a creative career but it’s one of the few things I can see myself at 70 still doing and enjoying.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think everyone nowadays knows of or is starting to get pretty aware of the sleazy things that have gone on and still continue to go on today in the music industry. I pride myself in being one of the music producers who isn’t known for doing anything shady or scummy. If you work with me especially as a female then I try to make it as professional as possible. There’s too many horror stories of people doing really shitty things to people just for the power dynamic. I never have understood it, i’m just here for the music.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely have to take them to Montrose area, that whole street up and down Westheimer is a vibe especially with Avant Garden basically taking the role of Fitzgerald’s. If they’re a sneaker head like I am then i’d probably then take them to Sneaker Summit. If they’re a big fan of hip hop and not from the city then i’d have to take them by Screwed Up Records & Tapes because come on, without Chopped n Screwed there wouldn’t be “slowed and reverb” especially on TikTok nowadays. The Big Easy for Blues night on Thursdays.

Food wise, I’d have to take them to get some good tacos from Taco Nazo and make sure they have a full belly, then take them to Fat Cat Creamery for dessert. If they need something lactose free then for sure hitting up Tampico for some raspas, nachos and liquadas.

Hopefully we could catch some live music at White Oak Music Hall or Raven Tower.

And if we needed to chill and have a brew or two, Axelrad and try to find a night that they had people performing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friends and family first and foremost.

Im not really a guy who has a ton of friends, but the ones I have built relationships with cannot be more supportive. Even if at times some of the guys I have which are basically like brothers, start disputing and get into it, we always manage to find a happy medium and remain there for each other. They always extend their homes and help out whenever needed. I don’t need 1000 people in my circle if I have 10 really solid ones. My parents as well have been pretty supportive, especially my mom. The lady is your typical hispanic mother and has her own temper, but she’s there for solid support.

Other than that my schooling. If I wouldn’t have pushed myself to study at a higher education level, then I would still be a kid who basically knows nothing about music besides what he could play on the guitar. Now I’m knowledgeable, although I still have a long way to go.
