We had the good fortune of connecting with Yanet Morales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yanet, how do you think about risk?
I am all about taking risks. In both personal and professional situations. I believe we have to pursue the things we want and face them with courage and a positive mind. No matter the outcome, if we don’t try we will never know. There is a quote I use very often related to this : “ I’d rather a life of OH WELLs than a life of WHAT IFs. Whatever I set my heart on I go for it. I take risks. I listen to myself. Always optimistic and always determined.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a person who loves variety and adventure. There is so much beauty out there! I can either shoot with three boas on top of me , a dog, in the cold , the rain, or go underwater. I love it all. The fashion industry gives me life. Keeps my heart happy, so I am always so excited about any new projects. I am very proud of how far I’ve come. Everything I have achieved and how resilient I have remained throughout the entire road. Getting to this point took a lot of determination, hard work, dedication and self love mostly. Once we love and respect ourselves enough anything is possible. It was not easy, but I like challenges. I feel stronger when I do. The lessons learned are many, to name a couple, always believe in myself and my strength. And always remain positive in every circumstance no matter good or bad. Welcome it all. You either triumph with a victory or learn from that opportunity. I want the word to know I am a girl who came to this country with a dream, like most of us. I have fought hard for it and I still am fighting. We have to pursue the things we love with passion. That’s the only way I know. I am a hard worker and I have an enormous amount of loving kindness and patience in my heart. Towards anything , and anyone , even those who do not show me the same appreciation. The universe is a beautiful place , and while we are here we might as well be kind to others and shower them with our love and light. Also , to be grateful. The more gratitude we express the more things we find to be grateful for.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question! Monday: We would definitely go to the ZOO! I love animals so much. After that we could grab some lunch downtown. There are many nice patios with very good tacos and margaritas . Tuesday: NASA! Because you can’t leave Houston without visiting that place come on! Wednesday: Aquarium! I also love it there. It’s fun. Besides seeing all the beautiful sea animals, There are rides and good food as well. Thursday: Kemah Boardwalk. Okay that’s one of my favorite spots. I always enjoy my time there. The ocean breeze, the restaurants by the water, the rides, the amazing weather. Perfection. Friday: Waterwall Park at the Galleria and also that mall. It’s my favorite mall in Houston. Saturday: Main Street. Party time! Very alive at night. Lots of fun and good music. Also good food and warm people. Sunday: The Botanic Garden and a couple of Museums. There are so many museums here.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my mother. She’s always very supportive of anything I decide to pursue. All my adventures, plans, ideas. She motivates me and makes sure I do what makes me happy. She is my strength and my light when things get a little blurry. She shares my happiness and my sadness. We are one heart. So this is for her.
