We had the good fortune of connecting with Yesenia Serrano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yesenia, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I would love to work on the marketing or creative side for a music label or creative agency. I was already studying communications concentration on PR, and adding in photography/ content creating gives me like extra tools in my belt to be more of an asset to a project by giving me that perspective from the creative eye.

Along with that I would say I just want to become successful enough to where I can give opportunities to others who may be going through the same adversities I went through. The entertainment industry can be a very cut throat place and my goal is to be someone I wish I had encountered early on in my career, I want to be the difference.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art in concert photography and content creating I would say is My authentic self. I love being able to show people music from my eyes and my lens, Music is a passion for me and has been a part of my life and I love being able to share some of my favorite photos Special moments through pictures as well.

The thing was proud about is that As built such a strong network and community within a little under two years through the strength of genuine connections and friendships. I’ve done everything from worked concerts and festivals on the non photo side, I’ve gone on 2 tours, I’ve worked with big names like Nike, I became a house photographer for smart financial centre, and have gotten to work with big media companies like Univision all off the strength of being genuine and making friends.

My professional career wasn’t easy, being in the space so you come across a lot of people who don’t have very good intentions or spirits, and I’ve came across my fair share of people trying to get in my way and block opportunities for me for the simple fact that They can and they want to. Some people don’t like seeing new faces in this industry and The less people in the more for them, but that’s not the case there’s so much room for everyone in our space.

I overcame some of these challenges by letting go, and realizing that no matter what people say or what people try to do or take from me, anything that is meant for me will be for me, and as long as I move with love and intentions in my heart, things will come to me.

One of the biggest lessons I learned is to treat everybody the way I would like to be treated, no matter where I go in my career I am no more or less than the person next to me, and to always be a teacher when I can. Anytime someone messages me for questions or advice in my career, I am an open book and love to Help give them clarity because I understand what it’s like being in the dark.

I want the world to know that With my brand, My goal is to create a community that nurture opportunity, recognizes people’s talents, and is a safe space in the entertainment industry where sometimes it feels like there is none

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends come visit in Houston, I love to take them to Start the weekend with a little market, Sometimes Houston has the hip-hop, flea market, there’s the montrose market, then we could get some fire tacos at tacos el bigotes or taconazo, And we can eat at the park, looking at the Skyline!

And or if a band we like is in town of course attend a concert!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my family at score more for the opportunities they’ve provided
me since I was a teenager, I got so much hands on experience in the industry through them and wouldn’t be here without their support.

I want to think Rico my friend who gave me so much knowledge and game since I first moved to Houston, through him I met a lot of people who became connections for me along my journey, I gained so many opportunities, and most importantly in be brought me in and made me a part of the trusted kicks family, they’re my home away from home and am happy to have them in my life, I owe a lot to them.

I want to thank everyone who supports my publication what’s the move HTX, without our community support we would not have achieved half of what we’ve done so far and excited to see how much we’ll keep growing.

Most importantly I want to thank my parents for everything they’ve done for
me, it’s because of their sacrifice and hard work that I am able to be here and purse my dreams and I always have them in my mind and heart through and decision I make and any milestone I hit.
