Meet Zoë Elizabeth | Make Up Artist & Bridal Expert

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zoë Elizabeth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zoë, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It’s something that happened really organically, I had been working for another agency, and clients began to seek me out specifically, through instagram and referrals from previous brides.
I would often spot small errors in organisation or problems that could have been avoided in the booking stage so I welcomed the opportunity to manage my own clients from first email to the wedding day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel like there are no wrong answers in make up. Once you understand the basic rules; the color theory, sanitation and chemistry, the rest is all about feeling and intuition.
In Bridal specifically it’s not necessarily about “your art” but about how what you are creating for that client makes them feel. Just as in fashion there isn’t a ‘right’ or a ‘wrong’ way for someone to feel beautiful, it’s unique to each person and each moment.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I grab an iced latte pretty much every day at Ah Cacao, this cute coffee shop is a Playa Del Carmen staple and now has multiple locations across the city, the brownies and the carrot cake are also a must have sweet treat.
When guests are in town we love to head or to a cenote, these fresh water swimming holes provide an escape from the heat and a fun way to be out in nature.
When here the taco tour is a must, with Los Aguachiles having the best shrimp tacos, Don Sirloin the best beef tacos and Los Tabasco’s for late night tacos al pastor.
When you are all taco-ed out martini at Harrys with some rock shrimp is a nice excuse to dress up and receive top of the line service and cuisine.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ive been so fortunate to have so many guides and mentors along the way in multiple schools, courses and communities. Above all I am most grateful for every artist and stylist who has formed part of my team, and my wonderful admin team. You have to work as a collective get anywhere in this business, and I am so lucky to surround myself with people who believe that we all complement each other, rather than worrying that another persons light or success will take from your own.
