We had the good fortune of connecting with Zoraida Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zoraida, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Always follow your passion. When you love what you do, the challenges are worth overcoming and the possibilities are endless.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A Tasteful Trip is a food and travel blog where I share food adventures, one trip at a time. My goal is for people to learn about different cultures by traveling and tasting great food. Traveling can even be exploring your own city like Houston! You can easily make it a trip to a restaurant on the other side of town. I want people to know that traveling and dining at restaurants is more than celebrating a special occasion, it’s also about supporting the local economy and giving back to the hospitality industry. Hospitality individuals are hard-working and genuinely love to provide an experience to their guests.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I get so excited when my friends visit Houston. Since it is the country’s fourth largest city, visitors definitely need a week or more to explore the different neighborhoods. I love that each neighborhood has culturally diverse restaurants and businesses which is why the city was named the Cultural and Culinary Capital of the South! I would take my friend to eat Korean BBQ at Handam BBQ in Asiatown, taste authentic Mexican street tacos at Taconazo Food Truck in the north side, dine at Coltivare in The Heights for Italian cuisine, have drinks at Truck Yard in East Downtown and so many other places. We would also visit Houston staples like Buffalo Bayou Park for a picnic, The Water Wall in the Galleria for cool photos after shopping at the large Galleria mall and of course, explore NASA’s Johnson Space Center. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am sending a huge shoutout to anyone who has found my content helpful throughout the years and has shared it with others! I truly enjoy helping people in any way I can even if it’s only recommending a restaurant. It eventually leads to them having a great time and making memories with friends and family. I also want to thank my parents Roberto and Nora, family and my husband Trevor for their support everyday. Thank you!
