I graduated in August 2022; before that, it was challenging to maintain a healthy academic, work, and social lifestyle. I used a planner to help get my life organized. It is the cheapest organizing tool an ambitious person can use. Every Sunday evening after church service, I’ll wind down with my Jazz playlist in the background and fill in my tasks of the week, breaking them into little tasks I’ll spread across the 7 days. My work life balance changed when my mindset changed from “living to work”, to “working to live.” Balance is so important, and necessary to function well in running your own business. It’s easy to get addicted to the grind and cut out the things that make you feel alive, just because lack of time, and the “grind it out” mindset our culture has encouraged us in. Don’t get me wrong, hard work pays off and will get you where you need to go, but that can lose its value if you’re not making time for the little joys with the people you do life with. Read more>>

My work life balance has changed a lot. I was the 5am fitness instructor who worked a 12-hour day after teaching my classes, went home, slept and did it all over again for years. I thought the more I worked out the healthier I would look and feel. The reality was that my life had no balance.
