We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Perryman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Crystal, what do you attribute your success to?
I would say number one my faith. God is literally the reason I have the ability and the means to help people in the way that I do. I am so grateful He gifted me with such grace to carry out the assignment of walking people through some of the most challenging situations or journeys. The second would be my personality! I love that I am personable and youthful. This allows me to reach an array of people from different backgrounds!!!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I currently have my own private practice “Lyte Coaching” which I am also partnered with a business “Grow Therapy” that allows me to accept most major insurances for therapy services. I have been coaching for 10 plus years and in therapy for the last 5. I love what I get the opportunity to do because I’m passionate about truly helping people unearth and uproot toxic systems and behaviors that have caused instability, trauma, distress, and stagnation.
I believe I’m called to this type of work. Growing up, I’d have random encounters of strangers sharing their experiences or problems with me and me being intrigued and wanting to help. I grew up dealing with family trauma of my own from rejection, to sexual abuse and toxic disappointment. By the grace of God, I have been able to walk through some major life events and adjustments which have aided in my ability to assist others in their journey.
Some lessons I’ve learned along the way is that I must train my mind to be stronger than my feelings and my boundaries to be stronger than my empathy. Huge lesson!!! I’m extremely empathetic and I also feel a lot however, those things can’t be in the driver seat because I’ll be left feeling rejected, disappointed, and frustrated.
What I’d like people to know about my brand is it’s full of light!! The name came from my father who calls me Crystal Lyte…of course our culture is always one for major uniqueness hence the spelling of “Lyte”! I have had the incredible opportunity to shed light on so many dark spaces in so many people’s lives. From bringing knowledge and understanding to patterns and toxic habits to uprooting and reframing verbiage and how we show up in the world. I have lived a lot of life in a short period of time and because of it I have stories for days that allow people to feel like they aren’t alone and inspired that they too can overcome and succeed!!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, we’d definitely stay downtown at one of the nicest and most hospitable hotels: The Hyatt Regency!! We’d hit a different restaurant for the evening such as The Bungalow…the vibe is classy and friendly yet upscale like we like!! We’d spend time shopping at the Galleria, Zara is one of our fave stores! We’d spend one of the days visiting downtown boutiques and another day probably taking a bus tour of Houston and all of the prominent places. We love learning so we’d probably check out some of the cool museums as well as more good eats and shopping. Other places we’d visit would be Thirteen the restaurant, Kiss, and maybe a classy lounge for dinner. Of course, there’s always something going on in Houston so we’d plan to attend some event happening that week that align with our interests such as a comedy show, a concert, sports event or church event/service!! Houston definitely has a lot to offer from unique experiences to diverse groups of people and tasty food options!!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely have a team of people I’d love to shoutout!!! But I’ll keep it short!! I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to Princess Pepper and Cherese Allen. These two have walked me through one of the most challenging times in my life and through the journey of building and maintaining my career. I love them dearly!!!
