We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Sinclair and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooke, how do you think about risk?
Everything happens for a reason. In my mind at least. Everything either happens or doesn’t happen, for a reason. Therefore risks are simply unexpected outcomes. Whether you call it destiny, fate, or free will we each walk a path. Good or bad, risks are the results of the decisions we make. In Avengers: Infinity War, Dr. Strange foresaw millions of possibilities for the best possible outcome. However, there was only one scenario with a positive outcome and that is how I’ve always viewed risk. Some risks in life are necessary evils in order to succeed. Being an entrepreneur requires shrewd decision-making skills. Good or bad, positive or negative. A risk is the result of a decision made and nothing more. Positive outcomes are referred to as luck, good fortune, or a calculated bet that paid off. It’s the negative outcomes that generally come to mind when people think about taking a risk. If I had more control over either the laws of physics or the space-time continuum, then I would make fewer mistakes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Post-COVID: I don’t have the faintest clue on where I would take anyone. Let alone my best friend. One of my real-life best friends wants to fly to Houston for the holiday season and I told him he’d be better of walking from Massachusetts rather than risking his life and flying to Houston. Pre-COVID: We’d go floating in the San Marcos river or visit the bat caves of Austin. Of course, we would take a scenic tour of Houston starting from downtown. We would drive down Memorial Drive out west past the Beltway while explaining zoning laws. Or lack thereof. Then beyond that, we would just chill here in town and eat, eat, eat until we explode.
