We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianna Strickland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brianna, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is patience. Nothing good comes quick; it is something that gradually builds. I stay consistent by showing up everyday and staying positive. I’m always finding new ways to sharpen my business mindset while I wait. The last thing I want to do is get discouraged and lose focus because “I may not get an order today or any new hits to my website”, so I look into doing things to keep me in line and focused.
What should our readers know about your business?
Back in 2020, I wanted to start a self-care business, but I was confused about where to go and how to begin moving. My good friend from Los Angeles helped me sign up for a business in late 2022. In the spring of 2023, I opened my fashion online store, but made a business pivot shortly after in the same year. I decided to go back to my initial business thought and create a skincare/self-care brand. I wanted to start a line that appeals to someone with skin like mine (sensitive, acne-prone). That’s when my company, RESET YourSelfCare was born. In my research, I realized there was more to skincare than just whipped body butters, body oils, and sugar scrubs. I wanted my business to stand apart by adding items to my line that a lot of people may not have known about. The bottom line is I wanted all natural skincare products that everyone can enjoy, especially those with sensitive skin. With my brand, my line gives that decadent, spa-like experience while using organic, handcrafted skincare products.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from Houston, but I do like to travel outside the city from time to time so if anything, I would choose The Woodlands or Spring. My friend and I will enjoy some great food, shopping, and a mini tour in the suburbs. Of course, when we are in the city of Houston, we will definitely visit the Galleria area and enjoy a more upscale environment.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a few people that rightfully deserves a shoutout. First, shout out to God for instilling these creative juices in me and I just thank Him for giving me my creative mindset. Second, I want to shout my good friend from Los Angeles. Her name is Tierra and she’s in the mix of starting her own business. She helped me get started on my business by signing me up for a sellers’ permit, etc and she’s also pushing me to keep going! Third, I want to shout out my friends, family, and buyers that has supported my business since I gave birth to it. Lastly, I want to shout myself out because I never gave up on my dream of one day starting a business.
