We had the good fortune of connecting with AJ Aljaafreh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi AJ, how does your business help the community?
Our gym helps the world by providing a safe but effective environment for kids and adults to learn how to use their bodies in ways that they didn’t know we’re possible. In return it gives our students self-confidence, physical and mental strength and also great listening skills! Overall, we help our students to become the strongest version of themselves.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are most excited to be introducing every person that walks through our doors to the world of Parkour and the journey it takes you on. I’ve been training Parkour for 15 years. Parkour took me on a journey abroad, it’s put me on ESPN’s World Chase Tag and, it’s helped me overcome my fears and also led me to open my gym. Parkour does not have a traditional pathway to making a living so the biggest challenge we faced was designing a safe environment to coach, and also presenting Parkour as a recreational but useful discipline. Our brand is based on the concept of putting your mind to anything and seeing it through to its end, commitment. Believing in yourself to become all you are called to be. Focusing on your calling by committing to your goal while strengthening those around you. Achieving what you once thought was impossible. This is what our brand, Believe Commit Achieve, is all about.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend visited The Woodlands, I would bring them to Believe Commit Achieve and teach them how to do their first flip. Then We would walk to the waterway and enjoy the scenery of the town, and then I would take them to my favorite restaurant and get some hookah and hot tea.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The biggest influence in my life has been pursuing a relationship with God. A person who has really impacted me to become a leader and overall learn the skills and discipline to start a Parkour Gym is my brother-in-law, Cody Perkins. He taught me to have a plan, execute ideas, and teach others.
