We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Lezynski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I always knew opening my own business and working for myself was something I wanted to work towards with being in this career field, luckily with having such an amazing clientele I was able to start mine fairly quickly into my career!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from others is how much I genuinely love my job, I get excited to go into work get to do my craft on people and see their reactions after I finish. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone love the results that you were able to give them.
I get most excited about learning new things, the beauty industry is ever changing and growing there’s always something new around the corner. I love taking classes and going to conferences to get to learn new things and network with other people in this industry.
Funny enough I ended up meeting one of my best friends at a conference in California when we both lived in different cities and now we live in the same city.
I got where I am by working, I know it sounds obvious but that’s all I did. It wasn’t easy at all, it can be stressful and at times I considered quitting. At one point I had my business and two other jobs but I never gave up, I love what I do and eventually it paid off.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh this is an exciting question because my best friend is going to be visiting in June.
For food we are definitely going to be hitting up Dough Zone in midtown, the soup dumplings there are so good. Postino is the cutest wine bar with lots of locations! Great food, wine and atmosphere. Black Walnut Café has some of the best brunch over here.
For a night out Washington Avenue is always a fun time, Kirby’s Ice house is also nice for a more chill environment.
For some day time activities The Museum of Fine Arts or The Houston Zoo are always fun if you’re from out of town. If you like a little bit of thrill there’s also Texas TreeVentures!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who I have to thank for where I am but I’ll leave it to 4 main people. My sister Kaila Trevino is my biggest inspiration and supporter in my career, I followed in her footsteps and she has helped me every step of the way. I am so appreciative for Jackie Garcia and Gina Atkinson with me moving back to the Houston area they have done as much as renovate their salon, Luminious, to make space for me to be able to join the team here. Lastly Hannah Picasso was a huge help and support to me in the beginning of my career when I was starting my business back in San Antonio.
