Meet Krista Callahan-Molodecki | WordSmith | Brand Whisperer | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Krista Callahan-Molodecki and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krista, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Done With It Copy began as a lighthearted joke, and if you had told me five years ago that I’d be launching my own business, I think I would have laughed. As the youngest of five imaginative sisters, I’ve always been the least serious (and arguably the funniest) of the bunch. While I often joked that the sisters had enough talent to run our own business, I cherish my work-life balance and have an aversion to risk–so the idea always ended with the joke.
That all changed when I faced the sting of a layoff.
For over a decade I’d dedicated my time and talent to others’ companies, working in roles across multiple industries, including engineering, medical, consulting, and IT. To say I was left feeling disillusioned with a future in a traditional corporate setting would be an understatement, and I was finally ready to take control of my professional trajectory.
My idea was simple: Put the human element back in business to create a company I would want to work for.
Honestly, it was a daunting idea, and I struggled at first. For eight years, I had been the primary breadwinner for my family, the sole provider for five of those years while my husband was a stay-at-home dad. My background didn’t offer boundless financial resources, but it provided something even more valuable: a people-centered perspective grounded in those core principles: creativity, community, and communication.
I realized that working for myself was the best option if I wanted to work in an environment that aligned with my values, especially in a landscape steeped with uncertainty. Freelancing, naturally, became my first step. I quickly discovered that my voice and relatable writing style resonated with clients, and that they appreciated my collaborative approach to their creative content needs.
This experience gave me the confidence to build a business that reflected my ideals. I wanted to create a space where my creativity, communication skills, and community-minded approach would serve an audience who would ‘get’ it. Drawing on the support and complementary talents of my sister and a close friend, I channeled my professional skills and experience into building something truly my own: Done With It Copy.
My vision was to establish a business rooted in my guiding values —empowerment, collaboration, and a genuine appreciation for the unique strengths each team member brings to the table. I was determined to forge a new path where I could thrive while also uplifting and empowering the clients and communities we serve.
These are the beliefs that make up the foundation of Done With It Copy, where we strive to be not just capable communicators, but thoughtful partners who amplify the unique stories and values of each client, while working to foster relationships with people and our communities.
Entrepreneurship is daunting, filled with uncertainty and challenges that I’d never faced before. But the autonomy to cultivate a company culture rooted in human connection, a reverence for the power of storytelling, and an uncompromising commitment to the impact of positive communication drives me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Origin Story Time:
The business world used to be a dark and scary place: online presence was scattered, disorganized, and underutilized; data tracking was sporadic, slipshod, slapdash if it was captured at all—there was a mess wherever ya stepped.
Chaos reigned and business owners never slept.
Then along came Done With It Copy with a vision to create, captivate, organize, and plan!
At its core, Done With It Copy is the secret weapon for busy professionals looking to elevate their online presence and content in captivating, story-driven ways. We specialize in copywriting, editing, website design, digital marketing, and branding for busy business owners.
We collaborate with clients who are juggling their business operations while trying to manage their online presence themselves. Let’s face it—when you’re not a creative professional and look for help from your niece who is taking a creative writing class in college (because they need the credit), well…you’re not going to get the results that you want. Our clients always have a vision of where they want their website and social media to be, but they are in the thick of running the day-to-day operations of their companies and bouncing around ideas about their online presence and branding that are so far from their own skill set, they get overwhelmed and discouraged with their own sporadic and lackluster results. This is where they tag us in, so we can take over and give their ideas and unfinished efforts an 80s movie makeover montage.
Our commitment to authentic storytelling, communicating in fun, attention-grabbing ways, and building genuine connections with our clients is what sets us apart from other businesses like us. We understand that communication is a two-way street, and collaboration is a superpower we use to ensure our clients’ voices shine through in every piece of content or collateral we produce.
The part in this journey I’m most proud of would definitely be creating a supportive environment where creativity flourishes and everyone feels valued. This is a place where creativity is celebrated, innovative ideas are welcomed, and every team member feels empowered to bring their best selves to the table. Fostering this culture has been essential, as entrepreneurship is not an easy journey.
Transitioning from a structured corporate environment to entrepreneurship involved numerous challenges, including navigating financial uncertainties and establishing a client base. I really had to step out of my comfort zone to build and leverage a network, but by doing so, staying persistent, and continuing to learn and grow, I’ve overcome these obstacles and hope I continue to!
The most crucial lesson I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability. The landscape of digital marketing is ever-changing, and being open to new ideas and approaches has been vital. I want the world to know that Done With It Copy is not just about delivering services; it’s about fostering a community where everyone can thrive together. When you partner with Done With It Copy, you’re gaining not just a capable team of creative professionals, but a dedicated group of allies who will go the extra mile to amplify your unique story and empower your success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Experiencing the nonstop Summerland that is Florida is not for the faint of heart! Thankfully, you have a local bestie who knows all the spots to hit, and what to miss. You can thank me with margaritas on the beach later.
On your first day I would say something you need to hear: Don’t stress it! Let’s kick off the week with something fun and carefree and enjoy a quintessentially Floridian experience (while not ending up featured on a Florida Man Friday TikTok by Sarah Hester Ross.) Get out the SPF and soak up the sun at one of the beautiful beaches, this is the touristy moment to visit Clearwater Beach for the beautiful soft sand, swim in the warm gulf waters, and grab some Grouper tamales at Frenchy’s. We’ll skip the original Hooters in Clearwater, ifykyk, and grab drinks at one of the beach bars (those thank you margaritas would be timely, bestie) and enjoy some live music, or join a drum circle as the sun sets.
What about day two? It is time for some adventure! Crystal River is my go-to. We could go kayaking or snorkeling in the morning–nothing beats an up close and personal encounter with the majestic and gentle manatees. There is a great authentic Polish restaurant, Cracovia, that is worth the drive for lunch—the medieval castle decor is worth the visit alone, but the pierogi are the best I’ve had outside of Europe.
Midweek, I suggest checking out some art and culture. The Dali Museum in St. Pete is my favorite spot, there is something about seeing the sheer size of some of Dali’s surrealist works that really make it a sublime experience. I recommend strolling around the downtown area to check out the shops and cafes, having a relaxing day after the kayaking adventures from day two, and working up an appetite for dinner. Reservations for The Columbia Restaurant for dinner? Yes, please, there is nothing like experiencing an amazing bit of history (first restaurant in America, anyone?) coupled with the even more amazing and delicious Cuban cuisine. It’s a perfect way to end the day!
I’m thinking that on our fourth day, we should check out one of Florida’s beautiful state parks. We have so many gems! Weeki Wachee State Park is a classic Florida destination, complete with a mermaid show! It’s a small-town Florida treat and a great way to be surrounded by nature and explore, spot an alligator or ten, hike, and maybe do some geocaching. Why not get some Pub-Subs and enjoy a picnic lunch while we are at it? Those Publix chicken tender subs are something to write home about! Of course, what is visiting my stomping grounds without visiting another beach? This is Florida, after all. We’d wrap up the day with an iconic sunset on Siesta Key Beach for beautiful views and photo-ops.
By Friday, we’re ready for some nightlife! First, we would explore the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, have lunch at a little Greek spot, and then an epic nap to prepare for a late night. After, let’s head out to Ybor City to take in the vibrant streets bustling with music and festive energy. I’m thinking of dinner at The Cuban Sandwich Shop, then catching a concert at one of the local venues, karaoke, or dancing at one of the numerous clubs.
Saturday will be our sixth day, and I don’t know about you, but I will be sleeping in. Don’t call me before noon, kthxbai. If you insist on venturing out, let’s hit up a local farmer’s market or an art fair, where I can wear the darkest sunglasses that I own and we can get some fun artisanal souvenirs and cold brew coffee. Brunch at Oxford Exchange is a must, then a day lounging by the pool to get our daily dose of chlorine and vitamin D, and a casual dinner at Ulele.
By the seventh day, I would recommend starting with a fantastic brunch (again! Yes! Why not live your best Florida life with two Brunches) at The Attic, a local favorite restaurant with beautiful views and unlimited mimosas. If we’re up to it, we could check out Busch Gardens for some thrilling roller coasters, if not, then we’re headed out one last time to the beach to soak up the sun, saltwater, soft sand—and maybe even see some dolphins!
It’s important not to overstuff your week, go with the flow, and experience the beautiful nature and fun spots that the Tampa Bay area has to offer, a lot of these days can be rearranged depending on our mercurial weather, especially if Hurricanes are BOGO this season.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Every Sherlock has their Watson, every Batman their Robin. I am a firm believer in the village approach, and as such, I have many people, a whole league if you will, who have played an integral role in my success.
A massive shout out to my husband, as we’ve navigated marriage and raising our children, he’s stepped up to be a true partner and teammate. His support has been instrumental in allowing me to navigate a lot of challenges professionally, from furthering my education to managing the demands of starting a new business.
I am thankful to my sisters, who have been a part of my support system for my entire life. They’ve always been there to lend an ear as I bounce ideas around, offer advice and guidance, and believe in me even when I am feeling discouraged.
However, if I had to single out one person who has played a pivotal role, it would be my amazing friend Emily. She has been both a mentor and an incredibly generous and compassionate friend. Her guidance, patience, and encouragement have been vital. Without her unwavering belief and steadfast support, I don’t think I would have ever mustered the courage to step out as a freelancer or start a business, let alone find the success I’ve experienced.
