Meet Michelle D. Garcia | Zumbini instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle D. Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
My 2 young kids inpire me! I see how programs can help young children in many ways which is why I became a children’s instructor

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From elementary school to high school, I was always on an auxiliary team & made captain in every group! I’ve had the ability to learn choreography, memorize chants & counts in my young life that magically came right back to me after over 20 years of being out of school! That experience definitely has helped me in the journey of being a children’s instructor! What sets me apart from others is I am the only licensed Zumbini instructor in the Houston area so trust me, it’s been a journey trying to get facilities or businesses to work with me since this program is so new to the community. I’m very great full for those who have given me a chance! I kept (and still do sometimes) getting rejected or ignored but I keep going! On to the next one!!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I volunteer once a month at the Mercer Botanic Gardens for Zumbini so that would definitely be a serene, quiet place to visit for sure! We would eat at Bayou Seafood off Veterans Memorial! And visit the Wood House Day Spa in the Woodlands for some relaxation!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Again, my shoutout would be to my kids!!! I saw how much they loved Zumbini when we would do it at home & I wanted that for other young children
