We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerrell Trulove and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerrell, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Trulove Studios has been building genuine relationships with our clients. From day one, I’ve focused on creating an experience that’s professional, seamless, and personal. Whether I’m documenting a corporate conference or filming a brand video, I treat every project with care and intentionality. That trust and consistency have led to repeat business, word-of-mouth referrals, and long-term partnerships—which are the real foundation of our growth.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career as a photographer and videographer really started when I realized the traditional 9–5 wasn’t fulfilling me. I bought my first camera in 2011, and over time, what began as a creative outlet turned into a full-blown business—Trulove Studios. Today, we provide nationwide photo and video coverage for conferences, brand campaigns, and corporate events, and I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come.

What sets us apart is how we combine professionalism with intentional storytelling. We don’t just show up and shoot—we help our clients feel seen, understood, and represented. I’m especially proud of the long-term partnerships we’ve built with nonprofits and associations who trust us to document their work year after year.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Like many entrepreneurs, I had to learn how to run a business while still developing my craft. I faced self-doubt, slow seasons, and the challenge of scaling without losing quality. But I leaned into mentorship, systems, and mindset shifts that helped me stay focused and keep growing.

If there’s one thing I want people to know about Trulove Studios, it’s that we’re here to serve—creatively, consistently, and with excellence. We believe media should do more than look good—it should move people and make an impact.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend came to visit Houston for a week, we’d start with coffee at Brass Tacks, explore the energy of POST Houston, and grab bites from the market stalls. We’d hit up one of the many farmers markets, check out a local event at Discovery Green, and take a casual walk through Hermann Park to slow things down. Houston’s got a rhythm—creative, laid-back, and full of surprises. Always proud to show it off.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely—there are so many people who’ve contributed to my journey, but I have to give a special shoutout to my wife. Her support, patience, and belief in me have been constant, even during the early days when things were uncertain. I’m also incredibly grateful for the creative community around me—fellow photographers, videographers, and business owners who have shared knowledge, opened doors, and helped me level up. And on the mindset and strategy side, books like Essentialism by Greg McKeown and Blue Ocean Strategy really shaped how I think about focus, value, and carving out a unique space in a competitive industry.
